It's like the difference between someone picking a fight with a gay guy, and picking a fight with a gay guy while he's holding a loaded gun while the antagoniser is unarmed.

* If you choose the "Earthborn" origin in ''MassEffect'' (You were [[CaptainObvious born on Earth]], orphaned, and grew up on the streets), you eventually run into a former member of a gang you used to be a member of. Commander Shephard is both the commanding officer of a Black Ops Human Alliance Ship, and a Specter, ''essentially given carte blanche by the Galactic Council to do whatever they want''. Your "friend" tries to blackmail you, because apparently he thinks revealing that you were a former gang member would ruin you; even though the Alliance and Council are willing to look the other way if ''mow down mind controlled civilians or exterminate an entire race''. You can choose to point out that you're legally authorized to execute him where he stands... or you can just shoot him.

* Bullying a dragon ''whom you outnumber'' is actually a common strategy used by flocks of birds to drive predators away from their nesting sites. The reason it works better for them than for humans is that wild animals don't get their egos involved: no predator's going to risk getting injured -- even superficially -- without a damn good reason, and the racket raised by a mob of enraged birds means that any potential meals within hearing distance will be long gone.
