Weapon Of Choice is now a disambiguation page. Examples that don't fit the tropes listed on the disambig will be removed.

Note that the title need not be taken literally. Anything vaguely cylindrical and tall as the character wielded as an ImprovisedWeapon (for which this is a SubTrope) falls under this; broomsticks and mop handles are simply the most iconic. This is also a go-to weapon for [[WitchClassic witches]], adding fight to their {{fl|ying broomstick}}ight. Anyone who prefers this as their WeaponOfChoice is an ImprobableWeaponUser. Theoretically, this can be TruthInTelevision.

* It's not unheard-of for martial artists who want to take a few lessons in the bo staff, but don't want to sink a lot of money into their first bo or are unsure if they will plan to continue, to use a broomstick instead of buying a bo. It's basically the same thing, but much cheaper.
* Ditto for students of {{UsefulNotes/Kendo}} and [[UsefulNotes/HistoricalEuropeanMartialArts HEMA]]; though your average broom handle lacks the weight of a sword, it's about the right length for practicing the basic stances. Particularly in HEMA, the longsword and the quarterstaff are actually wielded in a similar manner, so the same piece of wood can be used to practice both.
* It's not quite this trope, but several knife companies make a sheath knife with a handle that can unscrew, to allow attachment to a standard broom or brush handle. The idea being, you carry the knife on you, and when the zombies come (or whatever), you grab the nearest broom and attach the knife, resulting in a 4-6 foot stabbing spear. In skilled or at least fit hands, would definitely beat a basic knife as a self-defense weapon, and can be carried in places you can't legally have a gun.

* Pool cues can be dangerous weapons, as their weight is unevenly distributed toward the butt end. In at least one case someone had their skull cracked with one during a fight and never woke up.

* In ''VideoGame/SakunaOfRiceAndRuin'', there's a broom that Sakuna can equip as a two-handed weapon. It at first seems to nothing but a JokeWeapon that only deals 1 point of damage per hit, but when combined with several items it instead becomes a LethalJokeWeapon that's one of the most powerful two handed weapons in the game.
