* VideoGame/ConquerorsBlade: It's right there in the name of the Chain Dart & Scimitar hero class. With the Trap Prey ultimate move, you throw the chain dart to impale an enemy hero and grapple onto him. It does a little damage to him while you're at it, but that's usually just incidental--the point is to get your hero on top of him, not to kill him.

Seizing the opportunity, he yanks the propeller free, utilizing it as a makeshift bladed flail, which quickly turns the tide of the battle against the alpha Skullcrawler.
** Film/GodzillaXKongTheNewEmpire: The film's BigBad, Skar King, uses a very long vertebral column with a giant crystal shard at the end as his primary weapon.

One of the more interesting weapons seen in media is a rope, chain, string, wire, etc with a bladed weapon attached to it. This blade is usually a knife although other types such as hooks, claws, darts and sickles are also common. These types of weapons are incredibly difficult to master in real life so a character wielding such a weapon is bound to be very skilled with it in order to be a threat. They also tend to look damn cool.

The weapon can sometimes invoke the image of a striking snake or a scorpion's stinger, hence why it's common use among villains and antiheroes.

Compare with EpicFlail, where a heavy object is attached on a rope or chain. Not to be confused with WhipSword or RazorFloss. A kusarigama is likely to be included in StockNinjaWeaponry. Very often this trope overlaps with VariableLengthChain.

* The kyoketsu-shoge is thought to be the predecessor to the kusarigama. It is quite a versatile weapon. The blade could be used for slashes and stabs. The chain or cord, which was sometimes made from human hair or horsehair for strength and resiliency, could be used for climbing, ensnaring an enemy or binding them.
