**** This is ''DragonBall'' we're talking about. A mere 20-30 PSI pressure differential is no concern to superpowered {{Shonen}} heroes who shrug off nuclear explosions to the face.

** Its also worth pointing out that the Twisting Nether ''isn't'' space. Space in the Warcraft universe is called The Great Dark. The Twisting Nether is kind of like hyperspace, mixed with hell. Point being, it's magic.

** Considering the ridiculous amount of energy Superman ''must'' have to expend -- lifting ocean liners, flying supersonic, etc. -- it's questionable that his body even uses oxygen the way a normal human's does. His gut is probably a gigantic nuclear fusion reactor, deriving its energy by turning the hydrogen in the food he eats into helium. This would also explain why he's never seen going to the bathroom.

* While there are several heroes and villains in the ''GlobalGuardiansPBEMUniverse'' who are immune to all the problems usually involved with vacuum exposure (usually by way of being otherwise invulnerable), nearly all of them still need to breathe (they use some form of breathing apparatus when they do go into space). The ones who don't need to breathe are either EnergyBeings, or else are The Shield (whose immunity to injury includes an immunity to suffocation).

** Not actually true. They can, however, hold their breath for quite some time, and they do have specific adaptaions thet can create a hardened layer over the skin as a sort of organic vacuum suit, plus the ability to voluntarily enter a sort of deep coma with a metabolic rate near zero. So they ''can'' survive prolonged exposure, but breathing isn't how they do it.

*** Holding your breathe in a vacuum does bad things to your body. Think about it. You INCREASED the internal pressure of your body... and you're going into a vacuum where there's no counter-pressure... so you're fighting all that pressure trying to get out with pure muscle mass. Your chest will be trying to burst open.

This doesn't seem to really apply to the trope as it's not in space and thus the vacuum thing doesn't come into play, and it's also pretty well established throughout the film that aside from being unable to breathe it Pandora's atmosphere doesn't seem to have any ill effects to humans who have their skin exposed to it. Holding your breath for 30 seconds is perfectly plausible.

Cthulhu, the Byakhee and the Mi-Go may get a pass, since they're explicitly said to be extradimensional beings made of exotic matter, but the StarfishAliens known as the Elder Things are not, yet they came to Earth from a distant star system in prehistoric times using their wings as a kind of biomechanical solar sails. Considering how long this would actually take, one wonders which is more impressive: The Elder Things' ability to hold their breath, or their patience?
