A not unfounded fear since several kids did cause problems by having things like plastic knives, certain keychains, and once, a pocket knife (which a lot of people do carry around without any intention of using to hurt anyone, but in fairness, pocket knives were specifically forbidden in the school code). The strange thing, though? Troper's school had plastic knives along with forks and spoons for kids who bought their lunch. So, if you bring a plastic knife in your lunchbox, you might be planning to hurt someone, but absolutely no one would happen to grab an available one in the cafeteria and try to hurt someone. And then there's the fact that unless your victim has really thin skin or stays patiently still, the chance of a plastic knife cutting human flesh is pretty low...
