In the 2003 anime, he has a decently muscular but slim build and he doesn't grow nearly as much as he does in manga canon (he's dwarfed by both Noah and Winry in TheMovie), making him look more like a {{bishonen}} than his manga counterpart as a result.
** While Winry in the manga isn't short, the 2003 anime depicts her as noticeably taller than her manga counterpart. This is most noticeable in ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemistTheConquerorOfShamballa''.
** Inverted with Scar, who is given a younger and more {{bishonen}} redesign compared to his more muscular manga version.

* ''Literature/HighSchoolDXD'':
** Inverted for the anime, where Ravel Phenex is depicted with smaller-than-expected breasts, apparently to make her look more like the "little sister" niche she was actively filling ([[ItMakesSenseInContext long story]]). [[WordOfGod Ishibumi]] has gone on record stating he considers this artist error, and her appearances in later seasons give her a chest more in line with novel illustrations.
** Played straight for ''Hero'', where Koneko, Venelana and Asia are ''significantly'' more buxom than they were in either the light novel, manga or the anime's first three seasons. In Asia's case, her bust matches her light novel's counterpart.

** In ''Anime/NarutoTheMovieRoadToNinja'' Shizune has huge breasts that she notably lacks in the regular universe. Meanwhile Tsunade ironically inverts this, since she is flat chested here.

* Inverted in ''Fanfic/NeitherABirdNorAPlaneItsDeku''. Due to possessing his Kryptonian SuperStrength from an early age, Izuku rarely needed to truly exert himself and most of his ten months of training consists of refining his control rather than increasing his raw strength. As a result, he keeps his GeekPhysique when he gets into U.A.
* Velma in ''Fanfic/NowThatICanSeeYourFaceICanStandUpToAnything'' is fatter than in canon.

* Inverted with ''Anime/FinalFantasyVIIAdventChildren''. While in the original game, Tifa had exaggerated breasts, the follow up movie reduced her cup size because they would have looked jarring on the more realistic character models. Of course, even with reduced breasts, Tifa is still enormously busty.

* Famously inverted for ''Film/Batman1989'' as to woe of comic book fans at the time the skinny and unimposing Creator/MichaelKeaton was cast as Bruce Wayne whom has an iconic HeroicBuild in the comics. This was a case of AbilityOverAppearance and it wasn't until Creator/ChristianBale that muscular builds became more compulsory for actors playing Batman in films. Although ''Film/TheBatman2022'' has Creator/RobertPattinson playing a similarly slimmer and less burly Bruce Wayne as well, doesn’t affect his ability to kick ass at all though.

* Inverted to some contestation with ''Film/{{Blonde}}'', where Creator/AnaDeArmas was cast as Creator/MarilynMonroe. While both women are beautiful and shapely and Ana de Armas certainly does her best to do Marilyn justice, the RealLife Norma Jeane was simply more thick set 50s-style while de Armas is more petite.

* ''Film/DragonballEvolution'':
** {{Inverted|Trope}}: [[Characters/DragonBallSonGoku Son Goku]] is one of the most iconic example of {{shonen}} heroes with a HeroicBuild and his physique is often idolized by anime fans and Gym goers (to the point that the ''Goku's gym'' [[MemeticMutation meme]] exists) and he constantly suffers ClothingDamage to show off his impressive physique. Movie Goku has a very average, slim build to the point that even [[ButtMonkey Yamcha]] is more muscular than him. The story arcs the movie is adapting had a less muscular Goku, but that is because Goku was a lot younger in the source material during the King Piccolo saga. The movie gives him an AgeLift, but leaves out his muscular physique, presumably to portray him as a loner/loser.
** Played straight with Chi-Chi whom is much more curvaceous than she is in the manga and anime. She's even curvier than the movie version of Bulma whose anime counterpart is a prominent MsFanservice.

** Inverted with Oliver Wood, who is described as "burly" in the books, but is fairly average in the films.

** Fred and George Weasley are described in the books as being shorter and stockier/more muscular than Ron and Percy, but in the films James and Oliver Phelps are thin and even taller than Rupert Grint at 6' 3".

* Inverted in ''Film/KimPossible''. Wade's actor isn't slim but he's noticeably less rotund than his [[WesternAnimation/KimPossible cartoon counterpart]]. Also Kim is even more petite than she already was in the series.

* ''Film/ResidentEvilFilmSeries'':
** Inverted for Chris Redfield in ''Film/ResidentEvilAfterlife''. While Creator/WentworthMiller is obviously no beanpole, by this point in the games Chris [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil5 had gained]] what can best be described as a "[[MemeticMutation boulder punching]] [[HeroicBuild physique]]" that his film counterpart lacks.
** Also inverted for Jill, Claire and Ada who aren't quite as curvaceous in the films as they are often depicted in the games.
** Played straight with Wesker in the reboot ''Film/ResidentEvilWelcomeToRaccoonCity''. In the games, while decently built, he’s still skinnier than Chris ([[MusclesAreMeaningless not that really affects his fights]] with the hero later on). In the, film Wesker is played by Creator/TomHopper, ''who’s huge''.

* ''Film/SinCity'': Inverted with Nancy Callahan. She's drawn in the comics as an [[https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ea/53/89/ea53898d7533d3d1483ec83161085a9f.jpg extremely curvaceous woman]] with a ''very'' large bust, which particularly explains Hartigan's gob-smacked [[ShesAllGrownUp "She grew up and filled out"]] comments. In modern modeling parlance, comic Nancy would be described as "thick", movie Nancy as "toned".
* Inverted in ''Film/SpiderMan3''. Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) is nowhere near as buff as the comics version, who was already a dedicated bodybuilder before he joined with the ComicBook/{{Venom}} symbiote. This was to make Eddie more clearly an EvilCounterpart to Peter Parker himself.

* ''Film/StreetFighter'':
** Inverted as the few exceptions of Guile, Ryu, Zangief and Vega most of the characters from the games are nowhere near as ripped and athletic they are in the games. Dee Jay being the most prominent example, being a skinny dweeb while his game counterpart is a beefy kickboxer.
** Played straight with Cammy as in the earlier games she's very slim and small breasted, in the film she's played by Music/KylieMinogue who is much curvier.

** Zigzagged with Rick Flag, in the 2016 film he inverts this being pretty lean compared to the comic where he has the standard HeroicBuild. Averted in the 2021 film as thanks to Creator/JoelKinnaman being more bulked up he's TruerToTheText.
** Inverted for Savant, Blackguard, Mongal and Weasel who lack the muscly physiques of their comic versions with Savant in particular being out of shape due being played by Michael Rooker.
** Played straight for Ratcatcher who's gangly in the comics but thanks to a GenderLift is played the shapely Daniela Melchior.
* ''Film/SuperMarioBros1993'': Mario thanks to being played by Creator/BobHoskins is stockier than he is in the games, whilst Luigi the skinny brother is played by a young and fit Creator/JohnLeguizamo who has a ShirtlessScene at one point.
** Inverted for Bowser, the hulking fire breathing turtle from the games is played by the unimposing and averagely-built Creator/DennisHopper.

* ''Film/XMenFilmSeries'':
** In the ''Franchise/XMen'' comics, Wolverine is a PintSizedPowerhouse at 5'2". The films cast the 6'2" and very ripped Creator/HughJackman to play him.
** Angel Dust in the comics was flat in the chest department and petite. ''Film/Deadpool2016'' cast Creator/GinaCarano, who's very muscular and busty, to play her.

** Generally inverted in ''Series/TheFlash2014''.
*** Barry Allen is usually drawn as a highly muscular man in the comics (although some artists, logically enough, make him look more like a ''runner''), but is given a skinny-but-fit GeekPhysique.
*** Francisco "Cisco" Ramone trades his bodybuilder-like figure for a shorter, slightly stouter frame.
*** Savitar is drawn as a WalkingShirtlessScene with the muscles to match, but the show gives him [[spoiler:the same scrawny build as Barry, since Savitar is just an alias used by Barry's evil future self.]]

* ''Series/TheBoys2019'': In the comics, [[Characters/TheBoys2019Homelander Homelander]] has a traditional HeroicBuild completed with a LanternJawOfJustice, and towers above most characters in height. Here, he's portrayed with an [[ThinChinOfSin angular jawline]] and is surprisingly [[LeanAndMean thin]], which is hidden behind the FakeMuscles padding of his costume. He's also two inches shorter than Butcher and Hughie as well.[[note]]Antony Starr is 5'11 while Karl Urban and Jack Quaid are 6'1[[/note]]

* Parodying Creator/EmmaWatson's [[SheIsAllGrownUp noticeable difference in appearance]] between the first two ''Literature/HarryPotter'' films, ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' had a skit in which guest host Creator/LindsayLohan (then 17) played 13-year-old Hermione, returning to Hogwarts after summer vacation with a pair of gigantic breasts, and unintentionally drawing so much attention to them that neither Harry nor Ron can keep his eyes off them. This also was Lohan poking fun at herself, as many people were speculating that her naturally large breasts were fake.

* The original ''WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse'' is an JustForFun/{{egregious}} case of ClarkKenting: "He-Man" is just the super-muscular Prince Adam with a tan and a {{Stripperiffic}} costume, yet people can't tell that they're the same person. New adaptations, including [[WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse2002 the 2002 series]], [[WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse2021 the 2021 series]] and ''WesternAnimation/MastersOfTheUniverseRevelation'' all have "Adam" as a slim teenager who becomes the buff, adult "He-Man" when [[HenshinHero he transforms]].
** ''[[WesternAnimation/MastersOfTheUniverseRevelation Revelation]]'' also inverts this with Teela. In [[WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse the '83 show]] she has the same body type inherited by the cast of ''WesternAnimation/SheRaPrincessOfPower'', while here she is a distinctly muscled fighter visibly taller and more robust than Prince Adam.

** Also inverted for Jill, Claire and Ada who aren't quite as curvaceous in the films as they are often depicted as in the games.

** As noted by some disgruntled fans Thrawn here as played by Lars Mikkelsen has got more of a “dad bod” i.e quite a bit gut whereas the ''[[Literature/TheThrawnTrilogy Legends]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'' versions of Thrawn were LeanAndMean. Obviously it doesn’t really impact [[AbilityOverAppearance the standout performance]] and it can be argued Thrawn doesn’t need to be in good shape as TheChessmaster.

** Boba Fett as seen by in the comics both ''Legends'' and canon is pretty lean and his original actor Jeremy Bulloch was pretty skinny too. In canon due to Creator/TemueraMorrison being older he’s more thick set though as his almost naked “out of the Bacta tank” fight with Krrsantan in ''Series/TheBookOfBobaFett'' shows, still in pretty good shape.

** Nami as well as Kaya, Nojiko, Belle-mère and Makino rather than being supermodel petite with [[ImpossibleHourglassFigure hourglass waistlines]] like in the source material are due to the show being a PragmaticAdaptation realistically curvy. Trying to replicate Oda’s Jessica Rabbit-like female character figures in live action would’ve likely required corsets.
