Now YMMV and not enough context for the revised version of the trope.

* AmbiguousDisorder: There's definitely something wrong with the titular Poppy but whatever it is isn't quite said, however, we do know is that she's emotionally unstable and will get violent in times when she doesn't get her way.

Ill Girl has been cut per TRS decision. Examples are moved to Delicate And Sickly when appropriate.

* IllGirl: Amber becomes this later in Part 1, which adds a bit of drama, as she dreads the idea of having her family because of it.

* AdultFear: For a lot of people, it's having a relative like Poppy. It's definitely the case for Amber In-Universe, as she has to start a new life with a lie that she'll only be gone for two weeks to get away from Poppy and their enabling mother, only to get stuck with them ''again'' when she gets sick.

At some point, when she becomes old enough, Amber strikes out on her own, getting away from her mother and Poppy. At first, things are ok but the good times don't last and Amber gets sick and her mother, with Poppy in tow, come to take care of her. However, ''something'' in the house makes it clear about how it feels about Poppy (and it isn't nice) and Amber wonders if she'll ever escape.
