A manga was published monthly on Comic Gene for a thirteen volume run , and [[Anime/MekakucityActors an anime]] loosely following the events began airing on April 12th, 2014.

%%I think it would be best to combine the the main page with the pages for the anime and the light novels/manga into one page with folders for each of the different tropes. Is there any opposition to that?

* AlternateUniverse: [[spoiler:In the manga after the CosmicRetcon in chapter 18, we learn that the new universe has differences from the previous one like Hibiya and Hiyori meeting Shintaro and Momo, Konoha already being a member of the Mekakushi Dan and most shockingly, Ayano is not only still alive but apparently she and Shintaro don't know each other. It is later revealed that this is a timeline where Ayano dies together with her mother instead of her father]].

* CameBackWrong: Chapter 39 reveals that [[spoiler: Hiyori]] is this by [[spoiler: showing her with Kido's corpse.]]
** Chapter 48 reveals that [[spoiler: it was actually ''Hibiya'' who came back wrong!]]
* CosmicRetcon: [[spoiler:Chapter 18, after the deaths of Ene, Kido, Seto, Kano. Shintaro somehow relives chapter one with a twist. Instead of breaking his computer, he ruins his pet rabbit's food and goes with Momo to buy more food, meeting Hiyori and Hibiya.]]

* MayflyDecemberRomance: Azami with Tsukihiko which started the whole mess. She realized that Tsukihiko was aging and she grew scared of outliving him and their daughter Shion. [[spoiler:This fear and desire to live with her family forever created the BigBad Clearing Eyes Snake.]]

* RayOfHopeEnding: [[spoiler:The final volume ends with all of the characters but Marry, Seto, and Hibiya trapped in the Kagerou Daze and deciding to reset the world, which they acknowledge is what the Clearing Eyes snake wanted. However, Shintaro has a feeling he'll remember everything next time, hinting at the ending to Anime/MekakucityActors.]]

* [[IllGirl Ill Child]]: Takane and Haruka. Takane has Narcolepsy and Haruka has some sort of heart condition. This is the reason why they are both put in special classes where there are few students so as to allow special care from their teachers.

Shintaro Kisaragi is a typical [[{{Hikikomori}} shut in]]: he refuses to leave the house, has an unhealthy addiction to the internet, and doesn't have a job nor any plans of getting one from the outside world. A year into this lifestyle he receives a mysterious e-mail which installed Ene -- a [[ManicPixieDreamGirl strange]] [[InsideAComputerSystem cyber-girl program]] which seemed to have her own sense of self -- onto his computer. She is quick to declare Shintaro as her 'master' and has made the young [=HikiNEET's=] life a living hell ever since.
