** ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/170866/mating-customs-of-species-equus-parvus Mating Customs of Species Equus parvus]]'' explores this a bit: Humans have a tendency for seeking exotic partners, an evolutionary trait which used to help them reduce inbreeding by encouraging them to find partners in other communities. As a side-effect, it makes them prone to InterspeciesRomance with other sapient races--which, however, do not share this trait, so such infatuations are pretty much always one-sided (and result in the unlucky human suitor laughed off).

** In ''Fanfic/AllAmericanGirl'', there are close relations between Earth and Equestria, and pony-human relationships or couples are not unheard of--the protagonist herself is a pony married to a human. That said, the setting also has temporary species-transformation magic available for the spouses, allowing such couples to actually have children together.

** In ''Fanfic/EquestriasFirstHuman'', a socially awkward teenager falls in love with Fluttershy. [[spoiler: It is averted later on when his spirit is brought back to Equestria, he chooses to be reborn as a pony, since he could love Fluttershy more easily that way]].
** Averted in ''FanFic/TheRiseOfDarthVulcan''. Due to changeling custom and instinct, since Vulcan beat Chrysalis in a fight, she becomes enamored with, and dedicated to him. Vulcan, however, is completely disgusted with both the concept of this trope, and Chrysalis herself. So, he uses her for information and experience, but refuses all her advances.
* In ''Fanfic/SummerDaysAndEveningFlames'', Gilda (a griffin) eventually starts dating her guard captain Iron Bulwark (a pony). She's justifiably worried that dating him could make others look down on him, considering his best friend is very racist to griffins.
* [[http://www.fimfiction.net/user/kalash93 Kalash93]] wrote ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/81159/1/racer-and-the-geek/predawn Racer And The Geek]]'', which makes Zecora one of the protagonist's primary love interests, if not his main one, and ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/88520/1/welcome-to-the-brothel/das-laufhaus Welcome to the Brothel]]'' and ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/106068/1/relax/intimacy Relax]]'', both about a pony soldier and a zebra sex worker. This is only a borderline example, however, as canon isn't really clear whether zebras are a separate ''species'' to unicorns, pegasi and earth ponies or just another ethnic group.
* A pair of recurring background characters in ''FanFic/CadenceInAMinor'' are a stallion/griffon couple, who are also soldiers on the opposite side of a tense border. Despite everything stacked against them, they make a pretty cute couple, all told. And of course the whole plot of the fic revolves around the fact that Shining Armour was a victim of Interspecies [[BedTrick Rape By Deception]].

* The ''FanFic/PonyPOVSeries'':

* TD ends up in one with Cheerilee in the main continuity of ''FanFic/TheNonBronyverse''. In the alternative-continuity AU story where he gets accidentally turned into an alicorn, he eventually strikes one up with Celestia.
* Rarity and an aged-up Spike in Fanfic/TheDearSweetieBelleContinuity, as far as they know the first pony/dragon couple in Equestria's history.
* DiscussedTrope in ''Fanfic/RomanceAndTheFateOfEquestria''. Iron Will tries to take his friendship with Fluttershy to the next level; Fluttershy politely declines and later consults her friends as to their thoughts about interspecies dating. When they all view it as a non-issue, this leads Fluttershy to think she's [[FantasticRacism bigoted for only being attracted to ponies]]. When it's further explained that this is because she wants to have children, Rainbow Dash labels her a "breeder", and assures her that it's perfectly normal.
* ''Fanfic/JustBeforeTheDawn'' features one between Celestia and Tercio.
* ''Fanfic/ZestarAppleFlambe'' involves Spike and Apple Bloom falling in love with other, and having a child together.
* ''FanFic/BrideOfDiscord'' centers around Fluttershy and Discord. It is also hinted, that Discord had unresolved feelings for Celestia.

* Fanfic/ThePalaververse: Throughout ''Wedding March'', a mutual attraction develops between the mule Alloy and the ibex doe Tundra. At the end, [[spoiler:Tundra musters the courage to ask Alloy on a date, and he accepts]].

** [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] in ''A Moonlit Storm.'' Night Light (a unicorn) is sent on a mission from the princess to the nation of Farasi. As part of his cover, he's sent with another agent, Kisu (a zebra), who pretends to be his fiancée. Kisu explains that, while there are not many ponies in Farasi, the most common reason for them to be there is having fallen in love with locals, and so it raises the least suspicion.

* In ''FanFic/ABatInStorybrooke'', [[WesternAnimation/TheGreatMouseDetective Fidget the Bat]] was in love with Isabella, a human princess, and the two were engaged to be married before she accidentally got killed.

* ''[[http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Gav_and_Bob Gav and Bob]]'' has an Ogryn named Gav fall in love with a human woman. [[spoiler:Being 40K, [[BittersweetEnding it doesn't end well]].]]

** In the ([[MissingEpisode since deleted]]) fic ''Fanfic/SevenMinutesInHell'', [[TheBeard Misa]] tries to force Light to put out for her and forces Light (and Ryuk) to play [[TenMinutesInTheCloset 7 Minutes In Heaven]]. But it's Light and Ryuk [[ComedicSociopathy who end up getting shoved into the dark closet together]] where they discover they ''really'' [[ClosetKey like it]] and [[CoitusEnsues end up together]], leaving Misa heartbroken.

* ''Fanfic/PokemonCrossingFlyMeToTheMoon'' has multiple interspecies couples through the series:

* The sentient dinosaurs in ''Fanfic/MesozoicEffect'' are firm believers in this, which is unsurprising considering the sheer number of sapient dinosaur species. Children from such parings are normally DesignerBabies created by the dinosaurs' extremely advanced genetic engineering. ** In ''Fanfic/MinesOfDragonMountain'', two Diamond Dogs joke with [[CuteWitch Twilight Sparkle]] about how they wouldn't mind engaging in [[UnusualEuphemism 'Equestrianism']] with her friends [[TheFashionista Rarity]] and [[ShrinkingViolet Fluttershy]]. Unfortunately for them this is just after the BigBad has ponynapped her friends, and Twilight doesn't take it well. [[CurbStompBattle At all]].

* The ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo''[=/=]''Anime/{{Naruto}}'' fanfic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6117094/1/Ghoul-Instructor-Naruto Ghoul Instructor Naruto]]'' revolves around Naruto becoming [[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheGhoulSchool the gym teacher at Grimwood Academy]], and gaining an UnwantedHarem composed of the Grimwood girls and Miss Grimwood's [[OriginalCharacter niece]] [[CuteWitch Gem]]. Also, the sexual education teacher is [[HornyDevils a succubus]] (the aunt of [[Manga/RosarioPlusVampire Kurumu]]) who likes flirting with him.

* ''Fanfic/{{Daemorphing}}'': Ruby (a human) falls in love with a Hork-Bajir -- [[spoiler:Tom. {{Downplayed}} because he used to be a human, too.]]

* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13560100/1/Living-in-the-Magical-World Living in the Magical World]]'', which takes place in a world where the works of Disney come to life, a romance eventually develops between main character Gabriel- [[SeldomSeenSpecies an extinct Pied Raven]]- and Jasiri from ''WesternAnimation/TheLionGuard''- a hyena. Later on, Gabriel then arranges a date between [[WesternAnimation/{{Zootopia}} Dawn Bellwether]]- a sheep- and [[WesternAnimation/MonstersInc Randall Boggs]]- a monster who looks like a mixture between a chameleon and a snake with eight limbs. And they both hit it off really well with one another.

* {{Downplayed}} in ''Fanfic/{{Daemorphing}}'' with Ruby (a human) and [[spoiler:Tom]] (a human-turned-Hork-Bajir).

* ''Fanfic/TheBoltChronicles'': The love relationship between Bolt (a dog) and Mittens (a cat) in later stories of the series, from “The Ship” onward, is an example of this trope. Its unusual nature is played straight in universe, often acknowledged as such.

* The Review Team has a [[InterspeciesRomance/TheReviewTeam sub-page in development]] because the amount of inter-species couples goes [[UpToEleven THROUGH THE ROOF.]]

* Interspecies Romance is the norm in ''Mass Effect'', so the fanfic ''Fanfic/GhostGhostIKnowYouLiveWithinMe'' brought this UpToEleven by having Turian/Human ''ghost''.

* Subverted [[http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11568972/ here]]. It opens with a great big monologue about human and pokemon being intimate -- even having offspring -- is supposedly very common. The titular character has had two inter-species relationships: One with Tera, a pelipper, the other with Henry, a human. [[spoiler:Neither of which was intimate. Tera [[InterspeciesAdoption just wants to be a dad]], while she Henry just gets a kick out of tricking people into thinking they're a couple.]]

** Apollo (an eagle) has many unwanted fangirls who are wolves, and is implied to be in a relationship with Wolfgang (also a wolf)

* In ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8884155/1/The-Outlaw-Feline The Outlaw Feline]]'', [[Anime/FightingFoodons Clawdia]] is transported to the world of WesternAnimation/RobinHood, and falls in love with Sir Hiss.

* ''Zootopia/0'' (still in production) introduced one of its first characters, Hazel Dodge, as the skunk who contributed to the famous rug.
