** There's also the fact that Spider-Man's final battle with the Lizard even happens atop the Oscorp building, just like in the movie.

actor trivia

* Christina wants to be Spider-Man's girlfriend. ''[[StalkerWithACrush Very badly]]''. Creator/TaraStrong, who provided her voice, is now playing Mary-Jane in the new ''[[WesternAnimation/UltimateSpiderMan2012 Ultimate Spider-Man]]'' cartoon. Made even more hilarious considering Mary-Jane ''isn't'' Peter's girlfriend in said cartoon (until much later). Additionally her attraction to Spider-Man can probably be viewed as a form of MadLove. Tara Strong would later go on to play ComicBook/HarleyQuinn herself, starting in 2011's ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamCity'', with Christina even sporting punk and gothic design elements to her clothing and appearance that Harley would also begin using in that game.
* Peter once says to Harry, "Help me, Harry won Kenobi. You're my only hope." Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor, who voiced Obi-Wan Kenobi in ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsCloneWars'' and ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'', would voice Harry on ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan''.
* Peter's design looks a lot like Creator/AndrewGarfield, who plays Peter in the ''[[Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan Amazing Spider-Man]]'' movies years after this was made. It was inspired by the John Romita Sr. redesign which also inspired the casting and look of Garfield.

* This won't be the last time where ComicBook/TheKingpin, dressed in black suit, would appear in a [[AllCGICartoon CGI]] [[WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse Spider-Man medium]] where, in the end he is seen being trapped in Spidey's webbing, left for the police. Only this time, the races of both the characters are reversed .[[labelnote:Explanation]]The Kingpin received a RaceLift and therefore, was black in this version fighting a white Peter Parker, much like ''Film/{{Daredevil}}'' and ''Spider-Verse'' had Miles Morales version of [[ComicBook/UltimateSpiderMan Spider-Man]] battling a white Kingpin.[[/labelnote]]
* In the Latin American Spanish dub, Kingpin is voiced by Juan Carlos Tinoco. This wouldn't be the last time Tinoco voiced a Marvel villain, as he would later become the Latin American Spanish voice actor of ComicBook/{{Thanos}} in the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse.

* Visually, both the Lizard (wearing no article of clothing) and Electro (completely made of electrical energy and being blue in color) look very similar to how they would end up looking like in Film/TheAmazingSpiderManSeries.
** Even their alter egos are similar: Doc Connors is a lean, blonde, bespectacled man, Max Dillon [[IJustWantToHaveFriends just wanted to have friends]] and was rescued by Spidey once before his fateful transformation.
* The episode ''"Royal Scam"'' has several tropes that were also used in ''Film/SpiderMan2'':
** Peter promises to attend MJ’s play but his responsibilities as Spider-Man [[TheMasqueradeWillKillYourDatingLife keeps getting in the way]].
** Peter tries to buy flowers for MJ, but he can’t afford the good bunch so he only takes the amount of flowers he can actually afford.
** Peter [[JealousRomanticWitness watches MJ dating someone else]] when he is unable to attend her play.
** When he is finally able to attend her play, he realises its too late and she’s with someone else.
* In Electro's second appearance, Harry ends up [[EnemyMine joining forces with Spider-Man]] by offering [[TakeMyHand him a hand]] when he is down, while trying to protect a DamselInDistress. Four years later, the Harry Osborn of the [[Film/SpiderManTrilogy films]] (which the show attempts to follow, though with a BroadStrokes approach) does the exact same thing in ''Film/SpiderMan3'', while trying to protect a DamselInDistress (MJ) except, this time its after he pulls a HeelFaceTurn and accepts Peter/Spidey as his friend again.
