-->'''Max''': Oh! ...which one are you?

Although Benny tries to deny it, George is touched that his mother didn't want him to die.

Given how they were not arrested and got Octavio home safely, we can assume the Haitian men also got out safely.

She could have chosen anyone and picked the one guy who understood the value of hard work despite how often he is put down by Angie's family. It's nice to think there was someone in that family who appreciated George.

* In ''This Old Casa'', after Benny goes on a little rant about how difficult it was for her to raise George and her life that it was extremely hard to find anything grateful in life, George realize he never did show some appreciation for that. Even though she was obviously abusive and George has some resentment, he realize she did try her best with the circumstances she was dealt and, probably for the first time, tells her he loves her. Benny response with a small Thank you.

* When the family decides to do secret santa, and after switching with Vic when she realized George was messing with her and Angie, Benny got a gift Max would have honestly loved had George not ruined it. George goes to Benny and ask why she would go that far, she replied that he was only getting one gift, and she didn't want ruin it (George understandably gets annoyed) and she used her entire Christmas bonus. No matter how hard she is to everyone, she really does love her grand-kids.

* In ''George Helps Ernie See The Cellu-Light'', Ernie is in danger of losing his job due to his weight, George does everything in his power help him not only keep his job, but lose the weight too. It took George tricking him into putting on his mom's large church pants, but it finally woke Ernie up about his weight, scared of not being able to do it, George offered to work out with him to make sure he loses it, all but giving Ernie the confidence he needs. It pays off with Ernie barely passing the test of losing 20 lbs (mainly due to him weighing himself naked and both George and Mel would rather take his word for it than to see that.). George might take jabs at Ernie, but he cements his Friend for Life status by going so far for him.
