Even after he does give in and starts fighting, when has his opponent at his mercy, he puts down his weapon and implores the demon to stop fighting, in the process giving a heartfelt speech about the virtues of his old friend and how admirable he finds his refusal to use his sheer strength for anything other than helping and protecting others.

** In the flashback, the other Demon Kings first look to Azure Lion as the best candidate to take the throne after Jade Emperor's defeat, but he instead declares Monkey King the clear choice as his bravery and passion brought all of them together in the first place, referring to him as "brother" all the while.

** Also half TearJerker -- the credits of the episode give a dedication to Macaque's late voice actor, Creator/BillyKametz.

** Downplayed, but while he rest of the Demon Kings are plotting to end Monkey King for his apparent betrayal of them to the Celestial Realm, Macaque is actually hesitant and trying to suggest they consider alternatives -- still trying to protect his best friend even after he's supposedly left him behind.

** During their stay in their stay at the Demon Bull Family's castle, MK, Sandy, and Mei are provided with a warm meal and even a place to sleep. Even better, after Red Son sarcastically asks if they wish for some warm milk and extra blankets, MK says yes. Later we see him with a glass of milk and a blanket. He might find MK annoying, but he's a good host.

** In the flashback at the beginning of the episode of Monkey King and the Brotherhood on the morning of their rebellion against Heaven, Monkey King notices Macaque struggling with his armour and attempts to help him fix it.
