* Brandon and his friends, and the way the movie treats them. These aren't useless, pathetic geeks wasting their lives in a juvenile fantasy; they're intelligent people with strong interpersonal friendships, who have an incredible amount of passion for a show that has been empirically proven to ''change lives'' and make people (aliens, in this case) believe in friendship, loyalty, courage, and a better future. It's a love letter to Trekkies and their devotion to the show. Hell, at one point, ''the fans save the day'' solely because, instead of just shrugging the whole thing off as just a stupid TV show, they connected with it on a deeply emotional level and ''created'' something wonderful.

** Also a metatextual heartwarming moment, we have Tim Allen, Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shalhoub, Daryl Mitchell, Sam Rockwell, and Missi Pyle (Laliari), taking ''their'' bows, which is something film actors rarely get the opportunity to do on-screen.

** On a meta level, the exchange between Brandon and Jason just adds to this -- because while the events portrayed in the show obviously didn't really happen, the themes and the emotion that went into it were ''real''.

This doubles as, quite possibly, the biggest [[TearJerker/GalaxyQuest Tear Jerker]] in the film... and just to make it all the more touching, [[spoiler:[[Awesome/GalaxyQuest Alexander leaves the room and immediately begins making good on his promise.]]]]

* At the end of the film, the team has had a DynamicEntry into the side of a convention center (thankfully not killing anyone), with [[spoiler:Sarris finally dead]] and the fans ecstatic. Jason goes forward to bow, [[CharacterDevelopment but then remembers that his team are there, and tells them to all come forth, as he feels that they equally deserve the applause.]] They gladly accept, at which point Jason kisses Gwen. Contrast to the beginning of the film, when they were almost all reluctant to be there, Jason was [[AttentionWhore hogging the limelight,]] and [[WeUsedToBeFriends Gwen couldn't stand him at all.]]

* One for the con scenes, take a good look at the crowds in each of the cons. The con has people of all walks of life there: men, women, children, married people, single couples, cosplayers, and so many more of multiple different ethnicities. It would've been so easy to show the fans as a bunch of overweight, under-washed neckbeards, but they didn't. They instead showed us the truth, that fans come in all shapes and sizes.

** Not to mention the look of absolute ''joy'' on Quellek's face as his hero promises to [[spoiler: avenge his death]]. This doubles as, quite possibly, the biggest [[TearJerker/GalaxyQuest Tear Jerker]] in the film.

** When the show gets rebooted, Guy becomes a AscendedExtra with a [[AwesomeMcCoolname badass name]] to boot.

* Gwen outright states several times that her only job on the show was to have breasts and repeat what the computer said, however it's worth noting that the Thermians, while basically being the ultimate fans, never once view her as a sex-object or treat her (or any of the other crew members) as being less important than the Commander, something which was apparently very common in the show (to the point that Nesmith has his own autograph table away from the others, who were all huddled around one table together). Shows just how much they really did love the show, they felt that every crew member was important, even the nobodies like Guy.
