* After Batman saves her life Carrie is moping by her bedroom window. When she sees the Bat signal she's jumping for joy, buys a Robin costume, and trains up to be his sidekick as means of returning the favor. What really sells this moment is that Bruce is so flattered that he tells her his real name and takes her under his wing despite having just met her.

* During Bruce's first night back in the cowl, a senior police officer and a young rookie are chasing a group of robbers when the rookie notices a cloaked figure flying overhead. When the senior officer notices this as well, he immediately recognizes who it is and slows down the car, then smiles and tells the rookie that they're in for a show when he objects. In a story where Batman is almost unanimously treated with contempt and like another criminal by the new Gotham police force, it's nice to see one of the older generation treat him with absolute respect and confidence.

* When Ellen Yindel first shows up to replace Gordon, it's natural to assume that she'll be a StrawCharacter serving to [[InadequateInheritor further emphasize how much everything has gone to crap.]] Instead, the conversation between her and Gordon is full of mutual respect, with him noting that she's got an impressive record and her showing both that she's aware that she got the position solely because of her anti-Batman stance and that she's not at all happy with that fact.

* Crossing over with Tearjerker, Batman giving Two Face a CoolDownHug after TheReveal that he didn't scar his own face, and that Two Face has completely taken over Harvey Dent's psyche now that both sides match, succumbing to his madness for good. Combined with Year One showing that in this continuity Harvey Dent was his first ally in Gotham and friend, it is that much more poignant and touching, with Bruce never having given up on him.
