I stand corrected; it is in fact a trope, just under a different name.

* D.W. is the one who helps Mr. Ratburn understand Arthur's concerns of being seen as a TeachersPet through the use of a tin can phone. Mr. Ratburn decides to do something about it, agreeing to start spending the night at other kids's houses so no one can accuse Arthur of becoming the TeachersPet.

* The show's handling of autism came shortly before the condition became a lot more mainstream, and many autistic individuals found themselves loving how it explained the condition in a relatable context without diluting it but still helping kids understand a condition they never heard of unless they or someone they know were diagnosed.

No meta moment.

* Meta example: Carl's a very accurate and very sympathetic representation of a child on the autistic spectrum, and the episode on the whole handles the topic startlingly well, even coming up with an explanation of autism that is cute, easy to understand but not patronizing to the target audience.

Showing they may like to trick D.W., but they don’t want her to get hurt.

** After selfishly taking the bread, eggs, and milk, Mr. Crosswire brings it for future meals until the power comes back.
** Despite that above event, which left Dave without any groceries, Arthur's parents invite the Crosswires for evening stew, made from the ingredients everyone else brings [[SacredHospitality when the Reads invite them]], on learning they don't have power either.

[[AC:Desk Wars]]
* Sue Ellen is the only member of the class to look out for somebody else as she tries to protect George's gummy dinosaur he's been working on all year.
* Mr. Haney gives the class a stern dressing down but says since they're usually a well-behaved group, he's giving them the opportunity to clean up their mess.
* When everyone starts bickering again, George, who had no part in the chaos, just starts cleaning up without anybody telling him or any special stipulation (like how Binky earlier tried to take the easy task of gathering erasers). The class even stops bickering to insist that he didn't have to clean up since he didn't do anything, but George simply says it's the right thing to do and they need to stop being babies. This shames the class into finally following George's quieter heroic example.
* Muffy throws a pool party for everybody to cool off in more ways than one.

[[AC:Desperately Seeking Stanley]]
* Kate and Pal try to protect Stanley from the Woogle. Stanley himself is completely innocent and happy, perhaps due to being a toy meant for a young child, as he has nothing but faith in Arthur.
* Despite having earlier mocked him, D.W. ends up helping Arthur track down Stanley after realizing how much he's upset and worried about him.
* At the end of the episode, Mrs. Tibble has rescued Stanley from her grandsons and repaired him, and gives Arthur the option to either take him back for good or to at least visit and borrow him when he likes. She shows no sort of judgement towards Arthur for still being attached to his beloved teddy.
** Arthur decides to let Stanley go for good, realizing he could make another child as happy as he made him. As he leaves, Stanley comes to life and gives a soft farewell, proud of him and loving him no matter what. Arthur chooses to go ahead and borrow Stanley for a while anyway, but the love between the two still says a lot.

* Mixed with TearJerker - Buster has a dream where he turns back time to see what would happen if he never failed a childhood I.Q. test and became a genius instead of Brain, and discovers an alternate timeline where [[ForWantOfANail because Buster wasn't there to befriend Arthur at the park, Binky got to him first, later influencing Arthur of that timeline to become a Tough Customer]]. Even though Alt!Arthur is popular and "cool", he is secretly very unhappy and desperately wants a real friend. Buster realizes that Arthur "needs him" and goes back in time again to let things progress naturally, just to give Arthur the friend he needed.

* Throughout the episode, Ed uses the show's filming as an opportunity to promote his car business. But when the TV producer makes a nasty comment towards Muffy when she stands up to him, [[PapaWolf Ed immediately comes to her defense and demands the crew to leave]].
* After watching ''Caught in the Crosswires: A Family On the Brink!'' only part way, Francine and Arthur express their disgust at how it portrays Muffy as a horrible person and vow to not recommend it to anyone else.
