** They do in entries past the first game. The ones in the Cathedral might be from a time when the Hammerites just happened to need weapons of any kind due to the zombie outbreak. Dunno about the one in the Bonehoard.

** In the first game the Hammer's hammers are blessed and can smite the undead so the haunts cannot touch them. The second game seemed to forget this and has haunts that wield hammers in level 5.

!!The Film
* It's revealed in the third act that the police force is on the payroll of Leo, to the point that they act as his goons and serve as security at his house. But if that's the case, why were they bothering to shake down Frank for a cut of his portion of the bank heist? All of Frank's earnings from the heist come to him from Leo, so shouldn't they be getting their cut from Leo? And if they're Leo's goons, why are they chasing after Frank during the heist and trying to stop him from doing his job? Surely Leo wouldn't want that, and whether or not Frank pays them, presumably they'll be getting paid ''something'' by Leo after the job's success.

** This more than likely would have been explained by the [[VideoGame/Thief2014 2014 game]], which had a fractured development process, and (as I understand it) was originally much more of a straight sequel (to the extent that it was called "Thief 4 / [[FanNickname Thi4f]]" in early logo treatments]]. Based on what's available out there, the girl was originally named "Ariel", based on composer Paul Weir's unused soundtrack for the game (which includes the musical cue that was included in the first trailer with Creator/StephenRussell voicing Garrett again). It stands to reason that the game would have skipped past Garrett and Ariel[=/=]Erin's early years and picked up several years later, when the younger protege had stopped working regularly with him. The chronology of the 2014 game, regardless of whether it's considered a pseudo-sequel or a straight reboot, is a whole other discussion altogether.

* Why do the Hammer Haunts wield swords instead of, well, hammers?

Something I've always wondered, (though we will probably never know since they rebooted the series). What exactly does Garret do to the little girl he catches stealing from him (in the same way he was caught)? I've always liked to think he brought her in as his own protege and taught her his theiving skills as well.
