* The Malcorians are a pre-warp society who call their planet "Malcor III." If it's the only planet they've ever lived on, and they explicitly believe that they're the center of the universe, wouldn't their planet have a unique name?

** It's reasonable to think this is just a case of TranslationConvention. The Malcorians obviously don't speak English but their language is converted into English for the viewer (and for the characters, due to the existence of the Universal Translator). There are plenty of cases in the real world where the name of a place in one language is different from the name in another. For example, Germany is known as Deutschland in German. If a German, speaking German, refers to Deutschland and their words are translated to English then Deutschland will be translated as Germany. Similarly, the Malcorians probably have a unique name for their planet but, when translated into English, this gets changed into the English name.
