** Magical Mystery Cure was written as the series finale, so it made sense for Twilight to close off the series by happily flying off in front of the screen. The series continuing into Season 4 was unexpected, so they started off the season with Twilight being a newbie leader who doesn’t even know how to fly yet.

** Alternatively, maybe it's because some entertainers that come to Ponyville (e.g Trixie in "Boast Busters") turn out to be bad news.

The Chick is now a disambig, dewicking

*** Well, at least they wouldn't be competing against the Wonderbolts' captain Spitfire, derby-winner Fleetfoot, and Soarin (who is apparently either TheFace or TheChick); they aren't the only Wonderbolts though.

*** It's not only the book. After Nightmare Moon's defeat, Luna seemed to regress to the age at which she turned against her sister, and she has a non-ethereal light blue mane, like in the illustrations.

* If fighting Tirak was an option, and it clearly was given the impasse he and Empowered Twilight came to why didn't they super charge Luna or Tia (whichever was the Element of Harmony? It's established in the Pilot, the S2 opener and again here that the Elements aren't MacGuffins you collect, they are part of your very soul giving no clear reason why Luna and Celestia couldn't wield them but more to the point while Twilight learns with surprising quickness once the pressure is on Celestia and Luna are older, more powerful in their own right and are experienced warriors.

Disambiguating Fullmetal Alchemist

*** No, the Biceps physique has been [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist PASSED DOWN THE BICEPS LINE FOR GENERATIONS!]]. Son Bulk did kind of get shorted on the brains department, though.

* Why doesn't Celestia's plan include Twilight getting her friends involved? Twilight and her other five friends have been shown to be [[BigDamnHeroes quite competent]] in other episodes and have saved Equestria before so even if the plan was to prevent Tirek from finding out about Twilight Sparkle, she could have at least warned them about Tirek so they could go into hiding and possibly even concoct a plan to take him down altogether. But no, [[WhatAnIdiot she's advised to go it alone and doesn't even try to inform them of what's going on]].

*** In the context of the episode's intended message, it wouldn't have contributed anything. Just as Scootaloo doesn't need to fly to be special, she doesn't need a firm diagnosis of "grounded for life" for the message to be valid. Even if there were some potential solution to get her flying (training, physical therapy, corrective surgery, etc.), it wouldn't have offered results within the time frame of this episode.

** Plus her attempts at flying through the hoop ''almost'' succeded. It's possible that she did try focusing her thrust downwards, but: a. didn't have enough left over for forward motion (at one point she managed to fly up to the hoop, but failed to break through the paper) and b. couldn't sustain it for very long.

* So how come Suri hasn't sought revenge against Rarity for the events in this episode? Other villains have returned to get revenge on the Mane Six; look at [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E5MagicDuel Trixie]] and the BigBad trio in the final season. You'd think that given her scheming nature, Suri would want to get even with Rarity for defeating her and possibly ruining her in the industry. Plus with Rarity's boutique getting a location in Manehattan, that would make a tempting target for Suri to ruin, [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot either with a smear campaign or even crimes like burglary or arson]].

* Perhaps a better question would be: Why has there never been even the briefest discussion of anypony helping Scootaloo get flying (one would ''assume'' Rainbow Dash would be taking care of that, but there's never any refernce to her actually doing so), in this episode or any other?

Added DiffLines:

** Not necessarily. Performing under pressure and with a crowd watching can easily trip up someone who is otherwise good at whatever it is.

dewicking per TRS thread.

** If that's the case, then why wasn't it ever stated in the episode itself? The only thing the episode implied was that Scootaloo's wings hadn't grown yet, and RD didn't deny this. It was never hinted that Scootaloo had deformed wings, or that her technique was wrong. If her wings really do provide more thrust than lift, then the episode's aesop comes off as [[FamilyUnfriendlyAesop "If you can't do something everyone else can do, just accept it and don't bother figuring out why."]]

** Just because they're capable of getting there doesn't mean they're allowed to make that trip on their own. Rainbow Dash was flying along with them this time but if they tried this on their own even if everything went well they'd still end up grounded for doing it.
