* In ''LightNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero'' Louise's classmates mocking her about being a failure was already pretty depressing, but two points in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9421918/9/Soldier-of-Zero Soldier of Zero]]'' make it far worse. First, Louise keeps a stock of Dreamless Sleep potions which at the times she used to deal with odd dreams and nightmares but originally used them as an alternative to crying herself to sleep. Second, in her first year Louise locked herself in a chapel and prayed to God and the Founder for a sign that she wasn't a failure or a mistake. She brought a knife with her with the intention of leaving with her answer or [[DrivenToSuicide not at all]].

* ''Fanfic/FrozenHeartsRedWitch'': The ending for this story is this for the canon fates of Simon and Betty. In this story after everything they gone thought, Simon and Betty are finally together and both have ice powers. In canon Simon and Betty are separate yet again the Betty become the new GOLB and banishes herself from the planet to protect Simon and everyone else. At least Simon is cured of his Ice King powers.
* In ''Fanfic/TheCitadelOfTruth'', when Finn reunites with his parents in the afterlife, they are presented as a loving and caring parents who sacrificed themselves for the sake of their son. It makes the revelation of who [[{{Jerkass}} Finn's father]] [[AbusiveParents truly]] is in the canon ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' even more heartbreaking.

* ''Fanfic/ThisBites'':
** Sanji wanting the Clear-Clear Fruit (allegedly to spy on women) becomes an outright TearJerker when he mentions how as a child he wanted the power to disappear. Given his childhood, it's hardly surprising.
** In the Skypeia arc, Scratchmen Apoo reached out to Cross and became one of the first members of the Zodiac of the Damned. This makes canon events all the more brutal as [[spoiler:it's revealed that Kaido's appearance on the Kid Pirates' base (which is likely the last Cross saw of Kid, Hawkins, and Apoo before being pulled into the OP world) was actually because Apoo was a subordinate of his, and he never intended to honor his alliance with Kid and Hawkins]].
*** Even more, Cross mentions to Kid [[spoiler:in Skelter Bite]] that pirates with esoteric effects like Apoo have a better chance against Luffy than straight-forward fighters like Kid. [[spoiler: In chapter 980, we see Apoo keeping Luffy and Zoro on their toes ''without'' making hand contact until Kid sucker punches him in payback for betraying him.]]
** The non-canon 2019 Halloween Special omake has Merry having a living nightmare being stuck in a wrecked version of her ship form and within a DerelictGraveyard. [[spoiler: Chapter 71 shows her Paw-Paw-assisted flight has stranded her in a ''real'' one. And not just ANY old DerelictGraveyard, but the biggest, most famous one: Davy Jones' Locker!]]

* In the anniversary chapter of ''FanFic/YouGotHaruhiRolled'' (written in July of 2010) one of the many ridiculously over-the-top things to happen in the SOS Brigade and Anti-SOS Brigade's fight is that [[GagBoobs Mikuru]] somehow gets into position to [[MarshmallowHell smother Fujiwara with her breasts]], almost killing him before the others intervene. Of course it was only a gag then, but once the eleventh novel of the source material is released, it is revealed that [[spoiler: Mikuru and Fujiwara are siblings]]. Now it becomes so much more disturbing.

* In ''Fanfic/{{Fractured}}'', a ''Franchise/MassEffect''[=/=]''Franchise/StarWars''[[spoiler:[=/=]''[=Borderlands=]'']] [[MassiveMultiplayerCrossover crossover]], some characters joke that Lilith might become addicted to [[FantasticDrug Eridium]]. [[SubvertedTrope She doesn't]] but [[DoubleSubversion ends up addicted to]] [[PsychoSerum something else]].

* ''Fanfic/DannyPhantomStranded''
** Stella's mother Beatrice Traville's first appearance makes her first mention in Bonding harder to read. When Johnathan Strong started arguing with his ex-wife Stella Bevier, he called her as spoiled as her mother; Stella was angry that her mother was insulted fired back that she should have listion to her and not married a common lawyer. Stella was also defensive of her mother and angry at Johnathan for insulting her mother. Then when Beatrice Traville first appeared, you understand that John's hatred for his mother-of-law is more than justified, and if anything, he was being nice, just calling her spoiled with his mother-in-law mistreating him the moment he met her. And with it revealed that Stella was raised from birth always to obey her mother, even when she was uncomfortable with her actions. This makes Stella less of a spoiled woman defending her equally spoiled mother and more of her being conditioned to defend and obey her mother when she knows her mother is wrong.
*** Stella and Johnathan failed marriage takes a darker light with Beatrice's first appearance. When Johnathan threatens to take away Stella visiting rights for her daughter Star, she reflects that she was raised to believe that her opinion mattered more than what "the commoners" believed. Later, when Stella and Johnathan argued, he called her as spoiled as her mother, and Stella said that she should've listened to her mother and not married a common lawyer. It also appears that Stella's spoiled nature was why her and Johnathan's marriage fell apart. Finally, it is revealed that Stella is more self-aware of her flaws than she let on and wishes she was not so spoiled. It also revealed that she secretly regrets leaving Johnathan and regrets her life choices. The reveal that Stella's mother raised her always to obey her makes the previous reveals shown in a darker light. That Stella was spoiled and conditioned never to question her mother, and when she fell in love with Johnathan, she was moving away from her mother's toxic influence. However, despite Stella's love for Johnathan and moving away from her mother, Beatrice's influence cause Stella to leave Jonathan for someone more suitable for her mother's standards. It is implied that Stella truly regrets doing that and is miserable in her life.

* Chapter 4 of ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10132777/1/Destiny-s-Child-And-Her-Bridegroom Destiny's Child And Her Bridegroom]]'' has a scene where one of the Queens comments on how the love between Queen Jubilee and her Chancellor husband Zoisite might be a sham. A month after the fifth chapter was posted, [[TearJerker the author's own relationship with her boyfriend imploded.]]

* ''Fanfic/AdventureTimeFrozenHearts'': The ending for this story is this for the canon fates of Simon and Betty. ** These quotes from Twilight Sparkle in the original story were meant to be joking, but became way less funny with the numerous stories that have the barrier being intentionally expanded as a means to force ponification, and any stories that have the [[EvilLuddite P]][[TheQuisling E]][[BalefulPolymorph R]] in them.

* In ''Feel'', we have the resident IllGirl Rei and in the chapter after her POV, where she was talking about the first time Satsuki spoke and how Satsuki worries about her and her health problems, it is [[spoiler: implied that she passed away]]. Amoridere's grandmother had just passed away and said chapter and the one after was written while she was in hospice, which makes this all the more worse, especially since, shortly after, she had written a dedication to her.

* The already-disturbing ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fanfic ''Fanfic/{{Cupcakes}}'' became even more disturbing when the episode [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E25PartyOfOne "Party Of One"]] aired, which at one point has Pinkie Pie having a psychotic breakdown whilst alone in a room with Rainbow Dash.

* ''Fanfic/MarieDSuesseAndTheMysteryNewPirateAge'': This fic was written long before [[spoiler: Trafalgar Law's]] backstory was revealed, but it still manages to resonate when his crew dies and you realize this is the '''third time'' his family has died right in front of him. No wonder he went nuts.

* In ''Webcomic/HowIBecameYours'', Toph, after hearing that Sokka revealed Zuko and Katara's love child Kuzon's existence by sending a letter to Zuko, says "Katara is going to kill you... I can only imagine what Mai will do to Zuko...". A [[DieForOurShip demonized]], OutOfCharacter, {{Yandere}} Mai poisons Katara, causing her to miscarry [[note]]it had happened at the time, but Katara was unaware of Mai's involvement at this point in the story[[/note]], and later tries to kill her herself. [[Webcomic/HowIBecameYoursRiseOfTheAgniArmy In the sequel comic]], [[spoiler: Mai apparently is the one who killed Zuko]].

** The MST has a joke wherein Ami interprets Daria's descriptions of Trent to mean he's like Creator/KevinSpacey and fails to see why Daria is still not willing to commit to a relationship because of that. Given that Spacey's career was later torpedoed by sexual transgressions in the late 2010s, Ami ends up looking worse in that gag.

** The MST has a joke wherein Ami interprets Daria's descriptions of Trent to mean he's like Creator/KevinSpacey and fails to see why Daria is still not willing to commit to a relationship because of that. Given Spacey's career was torpedoed by sexual transgressions, Ami ends up looking worse in that gag.

** In a more disturbing fashion, Chapter 8 of ''Fanfic/MagnaClades'' shows the main antagonist [[EvilChancellor Zoisite]] raping an underage Connie in graphic detail, and the very next chapter has an Author's Note dedicated to Justin Carmical, who'd killed himself that year in 2014. Four years later, he was posthumously revealed to have sexually groomed underage girls while still a producer at Website/ChannelAwesome. Yikes.
*** From that same fanfic, Steven [[spoiler: [[AccidentalMurder kills Zoisite and Zircornia completely by accident]]]] at the end of Chapter 13 and then [[StressVomit expresses remorse over what's he done by puking]] in Chapter 14. Steven himself would not [[spoiler: kill (or shatter) a Gem]] until over five years later in ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverseFuture'' when he [[spoiler: accidentally shattered Jasper]] in the episode "Fragments."

* ''Fanfic/MementoMori'' from Durandall of ''Fanfic/KyonBigDamnHero'' fame is pretty disturbing on its own. It gets worse once you realize the author was just as suicidal as the Kyon in this fic.
