* Reading Zelda's research notes in Hyrule Castle has a few entries at the start regarding the Sheikah Slate. At first neither she or Purah knew what to call it after its discovery, but Purah decided to call it the Sheikah Slate since [[ShapedLikeItself it's a slate made by the Sheikah]]. Zelda thinks it's a bit on the nose, implying that she wanted to call it something else. The next entry has her talk about the Camera function like it's a groundbreaking form of art since you can make image duplicates of whatever you point it at instantly without the need of an artist, which also implies that the simpler Pictoboxes ''also'' became LostTechnology.

* One of the shrines that can be found early in the game is surrounded by beautiful flowers, all planted by one woman named Magda who stands guard at it even amidst the various monsters lurking around. The only way to get into the shrine itself is to ''not'' touch any of the flowers while heading towards it. The comedy comes from Magda herself, who chews you out whenever you attempt to walk through said flowers ([[VideoGameCrueltyPotential or cut them on purpose]]). Do it once? She angrily scolds you. Do it twice? She starts getting depressed. [[RuleOfThree Do it a third time?]] She flies into an UnstoppableRage, then proceeds to ''[[DisproportionateRetribution beat three hearts' worth of damage out of Link]]'', regardless of whether or not he's got armor on him.

Reach the end of the path, and you find a tree with a face and a sign with another cryptically worded riddle. When you "feed" it a nearby shield, its "brother" reveals a chest and more torches light. The final sign is by another faced tree in the center of a foggy lake, and the atmosphere leads you to expect something mysterious and tricky. Instead:

Think of this from the perspective of someone within the world: some guy wearing nothing but swim trunks (or threadbare clothing) flew off of a giant plataeu, immediately dashed to the middle of a ruined town full of Guardians while surviving all of them, stormed a hijacked castle with only basic weapons and shields, and managed to beat the BigBad terrorizing the land for a hundred years. * In Death Mountain, a Goron asks you to find his brother, who went off investigating a legend in the mines. When you find him, he's passed out from hunger, and then his brother arrives, telling you to go find a Rock Roast for him at the bottom of the large hill they're on top of.
When you find one, it's exactly as what you'd expect; a CartoonMeat made out of rock. Even better, when you avoid the sudden influx of enemies and hazards trying to prevent you from delivering it, and then the brothers dig up a shrine after eating it, you'd expect this to be a 'Blessing' shrine for all the trouble you've been through, right? Nope! It's a task shrine called ''[[HereWeGoAgain Greedy Hill]]''.
