This isn't Headscratchers and I wasn't seeking an answer. Story-wise, I realize Long has to turn to gold to fulfill the Heroic Sacrifice that shows off his character growth. I was just proposing a thought. Even if Pockets had wished to "turn ANYTHING to gold" that wish doesn't mandate that it has to stay gold. Pockets' wish could be 100% satisfied by a Literal Genie interpretation showing a band of gold spreading along Long's body immediately followed by a band turning the gold back into dragon flesh or Long becoming a dragon of living gold. Also it should be noted that the slow creep of Long turning to gold results in his head being the very last thing to transform so he had the time to alter his fate.
