* VocalEvolution: Caesar's voice now sounds nearly indistinguishable from a human's, and unlike the other apes, he can speak in full sentences.

* AbortedArc: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. In [[Film/DawnOfThePlanetOfTheApes the previous film]], the [[TheStinger very end of the credits]] featured the offscreen sound of an ape crawling out of the rubble of the destroyed tower and gasping for breath, implying that Koba survived his fall with the possibility of him returning in the future. This is ultimately ignored and not followed up on in this film, which adamantly states that Koba was indeed KilledOffForReal, [[spoiler:and he only appears to posthumously taunt Caesar as a hallucination]].

* RuleOfThree: As in ''Rise'' and ''Dawn'', Caesar gains something of a cordial relationship with a WhiteMaleLead in the "enemy" faction of humans, mirroring his relationship with Will Rodman, and said human even shows signs of a HeelFaceTurn with the actions of his superiors becoming more and more extreme. [[spoiler:It's {{Subverted}} for drama, as said human, Preacher, remains [=McCullough=]'s [[TheDragon loyal soldier]] to the end, and even badly wounds Caesar when he believes (not incorrectly) that he caused his death. This wound ultimately causes Caesar's own death in turn]].

* VocalEvolution: While still rather deep, Caesar's voice now sounds nearly indistinguishable from a human's, and, unlike the other apes, he's capable of speaking in full sentences.
