The 1999 film adaptation of the adventure novel ''Literature/TreasureIsland'', starring Creator/JackPalance.

After a mysterious seaman dies, it turns out that he held a TreasureMap to the booty of his former boss; the infamous Captain Flint. A crew is then hastily put together to head to island to collect it. Unfortunately, most of the crew is made from former pirates who want the treasure all for themselves.

!!This adaptation has examples of:

* AdaptationExpansion: The film's opening scenes depict Captain Flint burying his treasure, and an argument between rest of his crew waiting for him in the island's makeshift fortress.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Captain Smollett, Squire Trelawney and Dr. Livesey decide to leave Jim out of his share of the treasure on the pretense that he has probably joined the pirates after the landfall. [[spoiler:This is used to justify Long John's [[AdaptationalHeroism more heroic portrayal]] and Jim's decision to join him and Ben Gunn at the end]].
* AdaptedOut: Jim's mother is left out of the story, and is [[CanonForeigner replaced]] by Jim's ill grandmother.
* AlliterativeName: Billy Bones, a former pirate who takes refuge in the Admiral Benbow Inn to hide from his former shipmates.
* AnArmAndALeg: Silver lost his leg due to Billy Bones burying his cutlass in it after an argument.
* ArtificialLimbs: Silver in this film is introduced using a peg leg which he uses alongside a crutch to walk around.
* BaldOfEvil: Black Dog in this film is a bald fellow.
* ButtMonkey: Before exiting from the plot, Black Dog goes through several humiliating mishaps with every appearance, especially during his chase after Jim in Bristol.
* CanonForeigner:
** Jim is looked after by his grandmother instead of his mother in this adaptation.
** Jim gets help from a prostitute ([[NoNameGiven called]] The Strumpet in the credits) on several occasions in Bristol.
* ChekhovsGun: After receiving the Black Spot, Billy Bones instructs Jim to take the TreasureMap from his belongings. While searching for it, Jim also takes several other items, all of which help him to escape from the pirates raiding his grandmother's inn.
* ContrivedCoincidence: Due to the more truncated nature of the adaptation, Jim immediately runs into [[TheAloner the marooned]] Ben Gunn After running away from the pirates once making it ashore on the island.
* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:Since this film has Jim joining forces with Silver, all of the loyalists die during a gunfight between them and the pirates]].
* DisneyVillainDeath: Israel Hands dies during his fight with Jim by falling on the deck of ''Hispaniola'' after a mistimed rope swing.
* GrievousBottleyHarm: Hunter of the loyalists gets a bottle smashed on his head once the crew of ''Hispaniola'' mutinies proper.
* MoeGreeneSpecial: Redruth gets shot through his left eye during a gunfight between the pirates and the loyalists.
* PirateParrot: Silver owns a tropical parrot that constantly spouts "Pieces of eight!"
* SlipperySkid: Jim throws musket balls (that he took from Billy Bones' belongings) on stairs to make pirates rising up them slip and fall down.
