* TheBeautifulPeople: During the college and France portions, aside from maybe Sam's parents, nobody on the set is ugly. ESPECIALLY the women. Leo [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this, apparently taking credit for it using some hacking trick to get all the hot chicks into his dorm.

* GrieviousHarmWithABody: When Optimus Prime is triple-teamed by Megatron, Starscream, and Grindor, he is seen at one point beating Starscream with his own severed arm before [[spoiler: being killed by Megatron]]. Of course, being a robot, Starscream is able to retrieve his arm and reattach it afterward. After Megatron hit him with it a couple times too.

* VillainOpeningScene: The very first scene in the film shows The Fallen terrorising a group of primitive humans in Africa during 17,000 BC.

* StuffBlowingUp:
** It's a Bay movie, so that's a given, but ''Fallen'' has apparently set a Guinness record for the largest explosion with the actual actors in the shot. According to Shia on TheTonightShow, it used ''one thousand'' gallons of gas. It also took about seven months to plan, set up and execute... which was about the length of time to complete principal photography for the movie as a whole.
** There's also the ILM computer that suffered a meltdown trying to render Devastator, which may be a new personal best for Michael Bay.

* [[TheManBehindTheMan The Bot Behind The Bot]]: Megatron turns out to be the "disciple" of The Fallen.

* TookALevelInBadass: '''[[ThisIsSparta OPTIMUS. PRIME.]]''' He was already a {{Badass}} in the first movie, but only just about as much as the other robots, and was brutally owned by Megatron. Not so in this movie. Although [[spoiler:Megatron does kill him ([[DisneyDeath temporarily]])]], Optimus is an absolute ''berserker'' and is responsible for most of the movie's kills, and now has a penchant for {{Gory Discretion Shot}}s involving ripping Decepticon faces apart. Both this movie and [[TransformersDarkOfTheMoon its sequel]] turned Optimus into a complete MemeticBadass for many people.

* WeaponizedLandmark: The Pyramid of Giza, although [[spoiler:it's not so much that the pyramid ''is'' a weapon so much that a weapon is ''inside'' it. [[FridgeLogic In case one wonders how archaeologists never noticed that]], only a small fraction of the pyramids interior have been explored, mostly in the form of [[http://www.pilotfriend.com/world_facts/world/images/15.jpg long passages]]. In universe, the weapon's structure may be built around said passages, keeping the disguise from the inside as well.]]

** Which actually is something of a {{Headscratcher}} given the previous movie indicates [[ETGaveUsWiFi humans have been able to reverse-engineer and use Transformers technology for peaceful purposes,]] including everything from CD players to microwave ovens. Even if the Autobots kept their weaponry off-limits, there would've been a lot of gaps Prime could have filled.

* LetsGetDangerous: Admittedly, watching the Twins step up and take on Devastator is probably their only redeeming trait.

** Sam is cheating on her before he even finishes his classes. Not the best sign. And no, [[spoiler:she turned out to be an alien robot]] isn't really the best excuse for sudden calling it being 'kind of' in a relationship and not even asking the girl repeatedly leaping into your lap to get off ''once''.

* NotWhatItLooksLike: Doubled-over in ROTF; [[spoiler:Mikaela walks in on Alice basically sexually assaulting Sam. It really ''isn't'' what it looks like; not only were they not making out, but Alice is ''also'' a Decepticon.]]
** Well, not quite. [[spoiler:Sam doesn't know that Alice is a robot, but in the first shot his head is on the pillow and she's leaning over him. Cut to Mikaela opening the door, cut back; Alice hasn't moved, but Sam has leaned up - is still moving further into her while already kissing her in the shot, with his eyes closed - and they're kissing. Not to mention the fact that he doesn't tell her to get off or refuse either time she jumps him - even if a Decepticon, even undercover, wouldn't have listened, he doesn't know what she is and he doesn't try - so no. It's pretty straight forward exactly what it looks like in that regard.]]
*** [[spoiler:He was pretty close to having a seizure. Voluntary motor control is disrupted. Even if he did kiss her on purpose, he's still in an altered state and it's still sexual assault.]]

* ArtisticLicenseGeography: According to the second film, the Pentagon is in Washington D.C., not Virginia. Egypt and Jordan share a border (there's a little country named Israel), the Pyramids are portrayed as being in walking distance of the Sphinx (close, but not quite), the Valley of the Kings (thousands of miles away) and Petra (in a completely different country).
** Don't forget that the Smithsonian now has an airfield out back. One in a desert, in fact.
*** The Smithsonian does have an airfield, thank you; it isn't "out back", it's the Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles Airport, where they actually filmed. The surrounding area isn't quite a desert, but give it a summer of Virginian drought and it would be.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: In a meta-example, many of ''ROTF'''s robot-related flaws can be interpreted as misguided attempts to correct various prominent complaints about the first movie:
** ''Transformers'' was said to have too few robots overall. ''Revenge of the Fallen'' is full of far more heroic Nobodybots than the plot has any use for, other than to have them fight the masses of evil Genericons who are little more than {{Mooks}}.
** ''TF'' was accused of having bland, personality-less robot characters compared to [[TransformersGenerationOne G1]]. ''ROTF'' had two-dimensional, often obnoxious characters with silly accents, [[NostalgiaFilter just like G1]].
** ''TF'' reportedly gave the robots too little dialog and screentime. In ''ROTF'', Skids and Mudflap ''just won't shut up and go away.''[[hottip:*:Bumblebee gets as much screen time as them (if not more), but the fact that [[CuteMute he doesn't talk at all]] made the Twins seem like more of a focus for many viewers.]]

* CreatorBacklash: After ROTF had been out a while many people involved with it admitted that it wasn't the movie they were hoping it would be, MichaelBay included. Shia [=LaBeouf=] suggested that it wasn't any one person's fault, but a combination of the 2007-2008 WritersStrike (which happened while the movie was entering production) that cramped the production lead-time -- they were working with an outline and didn't have a well-refined vision of what they were doing -- and taking the "bigger and better" aspect of the sequel too far.

* EliteMooks: Arguably the Constructicons, where there are at least two of each model. The fact that this is never made explicit has some pointing out continuity errors where there are none.
** It's pretty clear Megatron has a WeHaveReserves mindset so it's safer to have a few of the same type around (the real reason was because computers were ''melting'' as is; adding more models could have proven [[ImpressivePyrotechnics outright disastrous]]).
*** Not to mention it allowed Hasbro to exclude individual robot modes from the Devastator toy's component vehicles, since those ''particular'' vehicles were never shown assuming individual robot modes...

*** That's a lot better since the US goverment (thanks to the comics) ''does'' have Transformer drones.
**** Also, quite a few people are perfectly willing to believe that the government was just [[HanlonsRazor horrifyingly incompetent]], particularly since the alternative is, well, giant alien robots fighting over a really cool looking cube.
* ExecutiveMeddling: You might be wondering why the name of the college Sam Witwicky went to is not named. That's because after filming both Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania, the colleges forbade MichaelBay from revealing the name of the college after they filmed a scene where Mrs. Witwicky got accidentially high on pot brownies and went around campus in a pot-induced humiliation fest.

* FauxActionGirl: The Arcees. At first glance, they're among the more interesting of the new Autobots introduced: a trio of female motorcycle Transformers. We're set up to expect a CrowningMomentOfAwesome from them, since they're...
** {{Fragile Speedster}}s...only that there's a strong emphasis on "fragile" in all of the two brief scenes with them.

* GeekyTurnOn: "Camshafts" (then again, Megan Fox talking about "shafts"...not ''that'' geeky).

* HoYay:
** Arguably between Megatron and Starscream.

** Leo and Simmons always seemed real close to some.

* KillSat: Soundwave's alt-mode. He doesn't use any direct weapons, but the havoc he wreaks throughout the movie while hijacking Earth's telecommunications and coordinating the Decepticons' actions certainly qualify. And that's not even ''counting'' Ravage and Reedman (the nanobot-Decepticon). [[spoiler:And Soundwave gets away unscathed at the end!]].

The sequel to the hit film ''{{Film/Transformers}}'', released on June 19, 2009 in the United Kingdom, and was released on June 24, 2009 in the United States.

Two years after the first movie, more robots on both sides gather to Earth. The Autobots are working alongside Human Special Forces from around the world to deal with the Decepticon arrivals while Sam is heading off to college. Because of leftover elements of the first film, Sam has secrets of Cybertronian history downloaded into his subconscious mind, including the location of an ancient power source left on Earth by a Transformer known as The Fallen. This makes him a target for the Decepticons who also manage to [[spoiler: bring Megatron back to life.]]

Critical reception was extremely negative, yet polls of movie audiences seemed to love it more than the first one, and it had an even higher gross. As to be expected from the typical {{Transformers}} fandom [[RuinedFOREVER reaction]], it is a LoveItOrHateIt work. Some theorize that this is because, while people like a story, sometimes we just want to see giant robot fights. It's worth noting that both Michael Bay and Shia [=LaBeouf=] have made comments about the film not being what they were hoping it would be (see CreatorBacklash below).
