* TheChessmaster: While the revised story is a simple girl vs crazed stalker situation, the original villain could be considered a master strategist and manipulator of both people and events.
** [[spoiler: Jen is in control of events from the very start when she encourages Becky to try out for the cheerleading team under the pretense of [[ManipulativeBastard helpful and innocent friendship]]. Becky ([[https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2277135/ Cristine Prosperi]]) is a well-liked and [[CuteBookworm academically gifted]] high school student who receives [[NotDistractedByTheSexy little romantic interest from the boys]]. After Becky successfully makes the school cheerleading team coached by Ms Flynn (Fox), things seem to be on the up when her friends introduce her to [[AllGuysWantCheerleaders attracts the attention]] handsome new student Rob ([[https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4856992 David Meza]]).

Captivated by Rob's charms, Becky finds herself in peril when his love develops into obesession and he begins to stalk her at home and school. Initally Becky is defensive of Rob despite his violent tendencies, but ultimately her best friend Jen ([[https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6882085 Kalen Bull]]) and mother Eliza ([[https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0443117/ Lesli Kay]]) are able to convince Becky how dangerous her boyfriend is after another girl disappears. Now she must resolve the situation before she becomes the next victim.

Simple enough plot, then - but inquisitive viewers will notice some story elements don't quite add up and the ending seems abrupt (and somewhat anticlimatic) for a thriller. This movie is a classic example of ExecutiveMeddling with changes to the script (and underlying plot) and refilming of certain sequences during or following production. Many elements of the original script version remain, not all of them intentional. One particular trailer features a {{Reveal}} at complete odds with the version aired on {{Creator/Lifetime}}.

victim.

Simple enough plot, then - but inquisitive viewers will notice some story elements don't quite add up and the RevisedEnding appears rushed. This movie is a classic example of ExecutiveMeddling with changes to the script and refilming of certain sequences during or after production. Many elements of the original scripted version remain however, not all of them intentional. One particualar trailer features a {{Reveal}} at complete odds with the version aired on {{Creator/Lifetime}}.

* AnkleDrag: Happens to Amanda when the killer discovers her hiding underneath a bed. In classic horror style, the terrified woman claws at the floor in desperation and screams as she's pulled to her doom.

to:

* HighSchoolDance: A kind of subversion - the teenage students are casually dressed as opposed to the fancy dressup associated with more traditional American prom. Still, this is a pivotal scene in the movie where Becky and Jen must fend off unwanted attention from several boys - any one of whom might be a psycho.
* InTheHood: Rob does most of his stalking in a black tracksuit, but covers his head with hood when sneaking about locker rooms or teenage girls' homes. Appears this guy's a fan of Franchise/AssassinsCreed.
* KnifeNut: Rob's weapon of choice is a sharp bladed instrument.
* StalkerWithACrush: As Rob's obsession with Becky intensifies he shows up ''everywhere'': Becky's home, around school, cheerleading practice. This is one guy who wants her and won't let anyone else stand in the way.
--> '''Rob''': The only thing that matters ''is us''.

!!''The Wrong Cheerleader'' contains examples of:

* AllGuysWantCheerleaders: Essentially the premise of the movie. Despite being physically attractive and likeable, none of the male students are interested in Becky until she makes the cheerleading team. Lampshaded by Jen:
--> '''Jen''': Guys are finally gonna notice you.
* AnkleDrag: Happens to Amanda when the killer discovers her hiding underneath a bed. In classic horror style, the terrified woman claws at the floor in desperation and screams as she's pulled to her doom.
* BadassTeacher: Coach Flynn takes it ''personally'' should anyone threaten her cheerleaders, even going so far as to chase one guy down and stun him with mace. Not a woman to mess with.
* BondOneLiner: In the form of a TitleDrop, after the coach takes down a stalker on school grounds.
--> '''Coach Flynn''': Looks like you messed with the wrong cheerleader.
