The film is notable not only for being a HumanFocusedAdaptation (though to a much lesser extent than you'd think from watching the previews), but also for containing some of the most brazen uses of ProductPlacement to date. It was intended to be the first in a trilogy of movies, with its first sequel released in 2013 and its second to be released in 2015. However, due to the performance of ''Film/TheSmurfs2'', Sony decided to cancel the third movie and instead [[ContinuityReboot reboot the series]] as an all-CGI animated movie series with the first movie ''WesternAnimation/SmurfsTheLostVillage'' coming out in 2017.

No Except Yes has been renamed as Distinction Without A Difference. Do NOT pothole a trope's name when listing it. Commented out Zero Context Examples. The entry in Foreshadowing seems to lack context to tell why it's an example. When listing a quote, the character's name only goes in bold, not italic bold. No, it's not obvious that Azrael is a Right Hand Cat. Improved indentation. Useful Notes can't be listed in work pages.

The film is notable not only for being a HumanFocusedAdaptation (though to a much lesser extent than you'd think from watching the previews), but also for containing some of the most brazen uses of ProductPlacement to date. However, due to the performance of ''Film/TheSmurfs2'', Sony decided to cancel the third movie and instead [[ContinuityReboot reboot the series]] as an all-CGI animated movie series with the first movie ''Smurfs: The Lost Village'' coming out in 2017.
