* EasyLogistics: The mission is about logistics for both sides of the war. The cargo ship Duchessa is carrying enough fuel, munitions, and [=CO2=] filters to keep the North Atlantic U-Boat fleet going for six months. Neutralizing it would significantly reduce how long and how far U-Boats can operate without returning to Europe, making it much easier for troops and supplies from North America to cross the Atlantic to England.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Everyone on the team gets one.
** Gus March-Phillips is brought into a meeting with M and Ian Fleming as the titular expert in unconventional warfare. Despite being brought in chained up and looking thoroughly disreputable, he pours a drink of an expensive scotch, immediately grabs a box of matches, surreptitiously exchanges the matches for a much nicer lighter, and ends up walking out of the meeting with a new coat, implied to be M's coat, after expressing an interest in it. Within this single scene, it's clear that he's a man of distinguished tastes, prone to moments of whimsy, always looking for better things, and constantly keeping an eye out for things that he can potentially use later, like the matches. He is a MagnificentBastard and a charismatic master of the IndyPloy.
** Appleyard is introduced chained up in a Nazi garrison, with electric clamps on his very bloody nipples, and yet casually reacts to everything that's happening around him. He pieces together what March-Phillips needs almost immediately and he doesn't bother to ask to be released when all of his captors are dead, only asking for the battery that's still shocking him to be turned off as a passing thought. Apple is therefore incredibly tough and completely unflappable even when it seems like everything is against him, and has an uncanny ability to analyze a situation very quickly.
** Lassen is introduced as a huge yet effeminate sailor that has trouble acting scared when confronted with Nazi threats and danger, and springs into action instantly, inflicting horrible bloody death on any Nazi in his sights with only a knife. Lassen is a straight, stone-cold Nazi killer, but also the nicest guy you've ever met.
** Hayes barely even shows up in his introductory scene, hiding in concealment and going on to kill half a dozen Nazis with his suppressed Sten without even blinking. Hayes is competent and manages to achieve BeneathNotice with ease.
** Freddy shows up happily reporting success on having set explosives on the Nazi ship, during which he identified the powder room from underwater, and notes that the explosion should be any second, and then it takes almost a minute of actual danger before the bomb goes off and destroys the frigate, at which point he looks like he's having the time of his life. Freddy loves making things go boom and is insanely competent at it, but his timing tends to be a little off.

The team fires hundreds of rounds suppressed Colt .45 used by Appleyard in the prison base during their rescue of Appleyard, and none of finale, however, has no such excuse: it is much quieter, but it is not quiet enough to mistake for anything other than a gun firing within 100 feet. Even that, however, is justified: when he shoots it, it does attract violent attention from the Nazis notice until their attackers are right beside them. * AluminumChristmasTrees: The team is frequently shown using suppressed Sten submachine guns to devastating effect and little apparent notice from everyone around. The suppressed Sten is actually that quietThe Sten Mark 2 that the team uses was absolutely notorious for being far, far better designed than it had any right to be, considering it was made by a resource-strapped United Kingdom to replace the weapons they left behind in Dunkirk. In addition to the low-powered [=9x19mm=] pistol round being inherently easier to suppress due to the bullet's design, the suppressor on the Sten is as long as the gun itself, stock included. The suppressed submachine was specifically designed for covert warfare, with an aim towards being as quiet as possible. Combined with the fact that suppressors were not especially common in 1942, the fact that no one notices the suppressed gunshots is also justified the three times they're used: in the scene on the boat, the team is far away from the Nazi's larger boat, and they aren't heard; in the stockade raid, a lot of attention is drawn to the loud, backfiring vehicle, which is providing sound covernotice that once it's fixed and turned off, the team abandons the quiet approach and goes loud; during the ending, each kill is enough to get attention, but more of a "what was that" reaction instead of "those were gunshots" reaction.
