* BrickJoke: Several scenes after Faraday jokes about having a MexicanStandoff with no Mexicans, he meets Vasquez, and remarks thus:

* PrecisionFStrike: Mixed with ForeignCussWord. When Faraday gets shot in the side, Vasquez goes berserk and shoots the culprit multiple times while saying [[spoiler:'A chingar a tu madre cabrón']] which literally means [[spoiler:'Go fuck your mother asshole']].

* HearingVoices: [[spoiler:it's implied that this happens to Goodnight due to his PTSD.]]

* AluminumChristmasTrees: The multiracial team is in some ways closer to the reality of the old West, where black and Mexican cowboys were very commonplace, than the predominantly white image popularized in older Westerns. Additionally, Chinese immigrants were present throughout the American West so it wouldn't be impossible for someone like Billy to join the Magnificent Seven.

* CriticalResearchFailure: In what may be an InUniverse example, Bogue claims that he made his fortune himself instead of having it handed to him like Rockefeller or Vanderbilt. However, both [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_D._Rockefeller John D. Rockefeller]] and [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornelius_Vanderbilt Cornelius Vanderbilt]] were born into poverty and built their massive fortunes themselves. This could just be another example of how Bogue is a lying Dirty Coward.

* AnAxeToGrind: Jack Horne is quite effective with a hatchet. Red Harvest and Denali also carry tomahawks.

** On the other hand, while Jack Horne ''has'' a gun, most of his kills are racked up with a [[AnAxeToGrind tomahawk]], which he usually goes in close for -- though he can throw it with lethal accuracy if he chooses to.

* DeterminedHomesteadersWife: Emma Cullen starts off as this before graduating to DeterminedWidow in the opening scene of the movie.

* AwesomeMcCoolName: Joshua Faraday, Billy Rocks, and Jack Horne are only a sample of the several cool-sounding names in the film.

** The night before the final battle,[[spoiler:Goodnight Robicheaux tells Billy Rocks that he had heard "the voice" and that if "I pull that trigger in violence again, I'm gonna die a ghastly death". The following day, after shooting his weapon in the battle, Goodnight is shot down from the church steeple and falls to his death.]]

* KnifeNut: Billy Rocks has dozens of knives on him. He kills more people with them than he does with his guns. Horne and Red Harvest also carry knives.

** The QuickDraw -- Chisolm who can outdraw four men at once, Faraday who is skilled at the surprise draw, and Billy who can pull this off with knives as well as his revolver. Billy takes it UpToEleven in his introductory scene when he wins a QuickDraw contest to the death with a hairpin tangled in his hair.

* Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), a LeanAndMean Mexican {{Bandito}} with a [[PriceOnTheirHead bounty]] on his head, no respect for anyone, but a good heart nonetheless.

Together the seven outlaws will lead the people of Rose Creek into an epic confrontation against Bogue and his goons.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Bogue. At the start of the film, he makes a BlasphemousBoast before [[KickTheDog setting fire to the church]]. At the film's climax, [[spoiler:he seeks refuge in the burnt out hulk of the church, [[DirtyCoward praying for mercy and appealing to Chisolm's religious side]]. All this earns him is a moment's respite as Chisolm removes his hat in respect before marching into the church after him.]]

** To be fair, unlike Faraday, Vasquez, and Horne, neither Goodnight nor Billy ever make any mention of nor show any interest in women. Their notably close body language (Goodnight's arm around Billy's chair, constantly sharing a single cigarette, etc.), their "I go where he goes" relationship (said verbatim), and [[spoiler:Billy's whisper of Goodnight's name as he dies]] have led many viewers to interpret them [[HoYay another way.]]

* Billy Rocks (Creator/ByunghunLee), a Chinese KnifeNut accompanying [[HeterosexualLifePartners Goodnight wherever he goes]] whose skill with daggers is only equal to his speed with a revolver.

* ActorAllusion: This isn't the first time Byung-hun Lee has played a KnifeNut assassin, having done the same as Chang-yi in ''Film/TheGoodTheBadTheWeird''.

* YouGetMeCoffee: After one townsman gets [[RecoiledAcrossTheRoom gets blown off his feet by his gun's recoil twice]], Goodnight tells him to make some eggs.

* YouMakeMeCoffee: After one townsman gets [[RecoiledAcrossTheRoom gets blown off his feet by his gun's recoil twice]], Goodnight tells him to make some eggs.

* TheTeamBenefactor: [=McCann=] is the one that provides Bogue with men and guns for his attack on Rose Creek

** Faraday carries three guns

** Bogue prays in Latin (badly) [[spoiler:when crawling into the church to try and get away from Chisolm]]

* WritersCannotDoMath: When Sheriff Harp goes to report to Bogue, Bogue asks that “Seven men walk into my town [and] dispatch with 22 of the best guns money can buy?” The Seven kill 34 of Bogue’s {{Mooks}} onscreen.

* FingerlessGloves: Billy wears them all the time, even when eating dinner. The knuckles are padded and they almost look like modern compression gloves.

** Chisolm, whose counterparts are [[Film/TheMagnificentSeven Chris]] and [[Film/SevenSamurai Kambei]], is likely based off of real-life lawman [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_Reeves Bass Reeves]], right down to the BadassMustache.

** Billy Rocks is an Asian immigrant who is highly skilled at every form of violence known to man. He's such a badass because there's simply no other way he could have survived this long. He also has an AmbiguousCriminalHistory, being the subject of an arrest warrant, but for what is never stated.

** Averted with Goodnight, who despite being an ex-Confederate, is extremely close BashBrothers with Asian immigrant Billy Rocks (and even states he decided to befriend Billy after watching him beat up a bar full of racist good ol' boys), is old friends with Chisolm, and doesn't even seem too bothered when Vasquez speculates about whether his granddaddy might have killed Goodnight's granddaddy at the Alamo.
