* BadBoss: Omar, who has a reputation for killing his own men, shoots one of his own men solely to prove that he is in fact Omar.

* GuileHero: Ben ''tries'' to do this to compensate for his lack of combat prowess, but he's not as good at it as he thinks he is. He does manage to talk a kid out of cutting class at the beginning of the movie, but in every situation he's put in from then on his attempts to talk his way out of problem situations only gets him in more and more trouble. He only has any success at the end where he manages to convince the criminals that he's Omar, and that mostly only works due to sheer audacity.

* MisidentifiedWeapons: FAMAS assault rifles serve as the "Serbian submachine guns" that are the apparent focus of Omar's gun deal at the warehouse.

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Over the course of the film, geeky police hopeful Ben's gaming skills gradually prove to be more of an asset than a liability, culminating in the final fight where he literally uses moves/tatics from multiplayer shooters (like scavenging unspent ammo and GrenadeHotPotato) to great effect.
