* AdaptationalProtagonist: In the original ''Film/EscapeToWitchMountain'', the two kids are the protagonists. They are helped out by an initially cynical man, Jason O'Day, but he's clearly a supporting character in their story. In the reboot/remake ''Race to Witch Mountain'', Jason's counterpart is Jack Bruno, and since he's played by Wrestling/DwayneJohnson, it goes without saying that he's the protagonist now. Notably, the emotional core of ''Escape'' is based on the kids' QuestForIdentity, with Jason's arc being a side plot. In ''Race'', the kids know who they are from the start, thus putting all the emphasis on Jack's development.

This is because - as a military-created weapons system from their world, which has ''people with super-powers'' - he's probably equipped with countermeasures against their powers.
** Also in Stony Creek, when Burke and his men realize that walking up into a small desert town with lots of weapons and trying to intimidate people will ensure that you end up in a MexicanStandoff.
** Being a world-class astrophysicist who has theories on extraterrestrial life visiting life in wormhole-capable spaceships that she's willing to speak on publicly will find herself losing positions at prestigious universities, mocked and ignored by people even at UFO conventions, and generally considered a crackpot by the world in general.
--> '''Alex''': You can't keep this quiet. The world has the right to know that they exist.
--> '''Burke''': And ''you're'' going to be the one to blow the whistle, Doctor? A failed astrophysicist fired by three universities for obsessing over UFO's teams up with an ex-con in declaring that the government has captured two normal-looking kids and is holding them hostage inside a mountain that doesn't exist? It would be so much easier to let you ''speak'' than to deal with all the paperwork involved with killing you.
*** This ends up being turned around when Alex and Bruno publish a popular book about their adventures banking on the fact that [[RevealingCoverUp any attempts at censorship by the government will validate their claims]].
