* AlwaysCamp: Jonathan and Jeff.

to:

* AlwaysCamp: Jonathan and Jeff. Cliff is a more subtle example, being a gentle poet whose mannerisms are subtly camp enough that [[spoiler: Hefina correctly deduced he was gay over a decade before he came out to her.]]

** In an earlier scene, Cliff also seems to give Maureen pause with his response to response to her son showing off a homophobic news article.
--> '''Cliff:''' I don't believe what they write about the miners; why would I believe what they write about the gays?

--> '''Jeff:''' Maybe we should try to look more obviously gay?
--> '''Steph:''' Achievable goals, please, Jeff.

* CastFullOfGay: The LGSM comprise half of the protagonists.

to:

* CastFullOfGay: The LGSM comprise half of the protagonists. [[spoiler: And at least one of the non-LGSM characters is also gay.]]
* CentralTheme: Solidarity, of course, particularly between people of different demographics. Also, as indicated by the title, ''pride'', in the sense of refusing to give up one's dignity or to hide one's true self.

* EurekaMoment: Mark more-or-less comes up with the idea for the 'Pits and Perverts' concert on the spot while sulkily sweeping up the broken glass after a random homophobe throws a brick through their window with the 'perverts' headline attacked.
--> '''Mark:''' ...wait, what are we doing?

* GreaterScopeVillain: The main onscreen antagonists and cause of all the conflicts between the characters are Maureen and, to a lesser extent, Joe's family. However, both the miners and the gay characters mention several times that their ''real'' shared fight is against the Tory government, who remain entirely offscreen apart from a brief clip of news footage.

* HateSink: Maureen, Maureen, Maureen.

to:

* HateSink: HateSink:
**
Maureen, Maureen, Maureen.Maureen.
** Joe's parents, who have nothing to do with the strike plot and are only present in the film to represent the homophobic culture of the British middle classes. His mother may act like she cares about him but ultimately is only shown being patronising and hypocritical (telling her 20-year-old son that he is too young to know his own sexuality), while his father is almost a nonentity in the film except for one brief scene of him verbally abusing Joe for being gay.
** Finally, despite her barely appearing onscreen, comments by many characters encourage the audience to take a very negative view of "Margaret ''[[PrecisionFStrike fucking]]'' Thatcher".

Added DiffLines:

* IronLady: Every single female member of the strike committee, but ''especially'' Hefina Headon.

Added DiffLines:

* KarmaHoudini: Joe's parents never learn to accept their son, eventually driving him to run away from home, and nor do they suffer any comeuppance for this beyond having their day somewhat inconvenienced when he theatrically storms out.

Added DiffLines:

** That said, Jaqui does make out with Steph while drunk despite being married to a male miner, possibly indicating bisexuality. On the other hand, she also claims to have never enjoyed having heterosexual sex, so she might just be an ArmoredClosetGay.

Added DiffLines:

* OldFashionedCopper: Being set in the UK in the 80s, the police are shown to be bigoted thugs who aren't above engaging in a little light PoliceBrutality against the striking miners and don't worry too much about sticking to due process unless someone knowledgeable and determined like Jonathan or Sian forces their hand.

Added DiffLines:

* WhamLine: Several lines are dropped at different points to provide a gut-punching reminder for the audience that the AIDS epidemic is ongoing during the events of the film.
** The former lover Mark runs into explains why he's acting so strange with the line "[[YourDaysAreNumbered I'm on my farewell tour!]]", visibly horrifying Mark.
** To anyone not familiar with the historical figures the film focuses on, Gethin revealing that Jonathan is HIV-positive has a similar impact.
** Jonathan himself one-ups that in the very next scene, explaining how, when HIV was first discovered, British hospitals numbered the HIV-positive patients they diagnosed, before eventually giving up after they got into the ''high thousands''.
--> '''Jonathan:''' I'm number ''two''. No-one knows what's keeping me alive.

* RenegadeSplinterFaction: Downplayed, but Steph decides not to go with the LEsbians Against Pit Closures because their politics are much more intense than the LGSM.
