Not long afterward, Norbit meets self-centered, domineering, evil FatBastard Rasputia Latimore (ALSO played by Murphy), who comes from a family of black racketeers. Norbit wallows in misery while being married to her until Kate turns up one day. As it happens, Kate is engaged to sneaky, slick-talking businessman Dion Hughes (Cuba Gooding, Jr.). But Norbit is not to be dissuaded and he starts aiming to edge away from Rasputia and win Kate back, as well as foiling a sabotage plan on the orphanage constructed by Rasputia and her brothers.

''Norbit'' is a 2007 comedy film, directed Brian Robbins and starring Creator/EddieMurphy in both leading roles, a la ''Film/{{The Nutty Professor|1996}}''.

* PsychoticManchild: Rasputia shows shades of this, as when she is told “no”, she throws violent tantrums and screams like a kid having a meltdown. Her use of a potato doll for her threat on Kate’s life is also rather demented.

The film opens with Norbit Albert Rice's (Murphy) parents throwing him to the front of an orphanage from the car door as a baby. Norbit grows up there, which is run by a [[JapaneseRanguage stereotypical Asian man who cannot pronounce "L"]] (also played by Murphy). He falls in love with fellow orphan Kate Thomas (Creator/ThandieNewton) and the two, as children, eventually pretend to marry each other with Ring Pops under a tree. Eventually, the two are separated when she is adopted. \\

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Rasputia becomes this to Norbit. As children at the orphanage, the burly, bigger Rasputia saves Norbit from bullies but demands his affections in return. Norbit has no attraction to Rasputia, either by her looks or her personality, but he accepts to be her boyfriend because she is the only person who protects him and also because he is afraid of her. Decades later, they've married, though she takes him for granted and even cheats on him which breaks his heart. In spite of her own infidelity, the morbidly obese Rasputia demands that he have eyes for no one but her, which the long-suffering idiot patiently does for many years despite her constant abuse.

* AwfulWeddedLife: Norbit and his life with Rasputia is a nightmare. The original script reveals that Norbit was born in 1968 and that the present plot is situated in 2005. Considering that Norbit was 10 years old when he met Rasputia, this means that the couple stayed together for at least 25 years.

** The look of disgust and horror on Norbit's face when he sees Rasputia wearing a lingerie on their wedding night.
** Kate doesn't know what to say when she sees the physical appearance of Norbit's wife.

** Several employees and customers at the water park are horrified to see Rasputia in a bikini (especially because her belly is so large that it completely covers her hips, making her look naked).
* BridalCarry: Rasputia seems to believe Norbit will be able to do that. When Norbit fails miserably, she gets furious.

* DownerEnding: Averted for the Latimores. Yes, they lose and get chased out of town and never bother Norbit again, but they end up opening a successful strip club, which was their motive in the film, albeit they opened it in Mexico. Nevertheless, they seem well-adjusted and happy enough. Rasputia in particular seems happy to finally be admired by the men of the city after years of marriage to a man who was only repulsed by her.

* HotGuyUglyWife: Mild example. Norbit may be a skinny, dorky-looking fellow, but his wife, Rasputia, is a hideous, morbidly obese behemoth by comparison.

* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Norbit's expression as Rasputia enters the room on the honeymoon, wearing a lingerie.

* TinyGuyHugeGirl: Rasputia is enormously overweight, compared to the very skinny Norbit.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler:When the townspeople chase the Lattimores out of town, Jack is able to keep clear of the angry mob. However, Earl and Blue are caught by the crowd, and aren’t seen in the ending in Mexico, leaving it unknown if they escaped with their brother and sister.]]

* BrainBleach: All the guests in the church make no effort to hide their disgust as they see Norbit and Rasputia kissing at the wedding.

** Rasputia desperately tries to convince Kate that Norbit is one.
** The "power tap guru" who Rasputia cheats on Norbit with.
** If their reactions are anything to go by [[spoiler:the Mexican patrons at the Latimore's new strip club are this as well]].

If Norbit's look of disgust and fear upon seeing Rasputia heading toward him half-naked is no a sign that he is doing so against his will, the screams and expressions of pain he makes when Rasputia jumps on him, crushing it and breaking the bed, take away any doubt. And it's all [[PlayedForLaughs played for laughs]]. Again, if the genders were reversed, none of this would be funny.

* TheDreaded: Rasputia is feared and reviled by the entire town, and even her brothers are afraid of her. When she’s defeated, the townspeople immediately chase her brothers out as well.

* EpicFail: Rasputia seems to really believe that Norbit can carry her. The result of her leaps in the sex montage is a broken bed and a crushed Norbit screaming in pain.
