* NothingIsScarier: Despite all of the gory deaths, the [[MirrorMonster Mirror Monsters]] with their [[MirrorScare Mirror Scares]], the disturbing imagery and the DemonicPossession, it's Ben's long, slow, quiet explorations of the burned-out Mayflower store (and the hidden tunnels from its AbandonedHospital days) that provide some of the scariest and most suspenseful moments in the movie. The iconic image from the page photo is itself an example of this, as the true meaning of a handprint on the ''inside'' of a mirror sinks in. And at the very end of the movie, in the middle of what seems a normal street scene of cops, firemen, and emergency workers cleaning up after the battle with the demon is over, the scariest moments come when [[spoiler:Ben, unable to get anyone to pay attention to him or even hear him, suddenly realizes all the signs and text he can see are backwards]], and [[spoiler:the very last shot of the movie...just another normal, bustling street scene with people going about their business, completely unaware of Ben's handprint on the window]]...

Still waiting on an answer on the discussion page, but this seems me to be more than fair. It acknowledges that the idea is still believed by many but also that it has fallen greatly out of favor, including among the religious who insist on rigorous examination and proof that a medical or psychological issue is not at fault before considering things like possession and exorcism. Whether or not Demonic Possession is possible IRL or should be believed in is not the issue, but that such matters have been limited to carefully-prescribed conditions which must be met, so as to keep from unduly harming innocent people whose only "crime" is to suffer from a mental illness that can be medically treated. It can be debated whether religious doctrine is right or wrong, and it can be objectively stated that Demonic Possession remains a real part of church law (depending on the denomination), but it is not speculation to note that this has become far less emphasized or defended in recent years or that society in general has become less willing to turn to such an explanation before the one psychology gives.
