Music/ElvisPresley's 4th feature film, ''King Creole'' is a 1958 drama directed by Creator/MichaelCurtiz.
19-year-old Danny Fisher (Presley) flunks out of school and decides to dedicate himself to supporting his sister Mimi and his unemployed father (Creator/DeanJagger), who has never gotten over his wife's death. His father gets a job as a pharmacist and encourages Danny to go to night school, but Danny falls in with some hoodlums led by Shark (Creator/VicMorrow) for easy money and attracts the interest of shady nightclub owner Maxie Fields (Creator/WalterMatthau). When Danny performs at Maxie's nightclub, he impresses Maxie's honest rival Charlie [=LeGrand=] (Creator/PaulStewart) and starts singing nightly at the latter's club, where he is a success.
