Good Time, a 2017 crime-drama film directed by Ben and Josh Safdie. The Twilight star Creator/RobertPattinson is back with a grittier movie, a sort of heist within a heist type of movie which is gutsier and also delves into realism. [[https://in.bookmyshow.com/movies/good-time/ET00058970 Good Time]] is not the first term you’d use to describe this raw looking movie, if anything the movie is a high paced, hard headed sort of an urban drama that demands your attention.
Previews: [[https://youtu.be/nrR-SbCRgCU Trailer]].
----
!!''The Plot:
The story revolves around Connie Nikas (Robert Pattinson), a bank robber from Queens, New York who ends up in a mess when his mentally handicapped brother Nick Nikas ([[https://in.bookmyshow.com/person/ben-safdie/1083929 Benny Safdie]]) winds up in jail on Riker’s Island. The trailer hardly tells us the circumstances that led up to the two brother’s ending up in the sketchy underworld of New York City.
----
In the movie, Connie accosts Nick during a court ordered appointment with a psychiatrist. He pull’s Nick away from the psychiatrist and convinces him to be a part of a bank robbery which is only momentarily successful. Nick is played by the director of the movie Benny Safdie and the camaraderie which is a sort of us-against-the-world is evident in the movie.
----
Pattinson is almost unrecognizable and one can’t help but feel repulsed and emphatic towards the character, all at the same time. For Connie the time is always now and any instance of a bad decision might land him in jail or killed but for him it is all worth the risk as a good one might set him up for life. The movie takes a closer look at the rigors of daily life which is anxiety and stress driven for most and the pressure of constant hustle is inevitable in order to survive. Good Time makes an express effort to be as hard-hitting as it can be about the trials of the urban poor.
----
Good Time is simultaneously intoxicating and discomforting while seeming to be authentic in its narrative. There are however some generic cliche's in the movie. Good Time, all at once appears to be a sociological experiment and a story about the underdogs in society, that’ll have you rooting for them.
