* ArtisticLicenseReligion: Besides the [[SarcasmMode very subtle]] abuse of "works in mysterious ways" (which the Old Testament actually discourages... [[note]]not that it stops modern churches anyways, unfortunately[[/note]]), the story also violates the whole promise to not wipe out more cities with floods. [[spoiler: Even if it was localised and not globally, most of the movie made it sound like it would be, and natural dam accidents usually don't make temporary ''inland seas''.]]

* NoEndorHolocaust: Even if we assume that no one got killed during the initial flood, the huge amount of property damage, resulting mould and the fact that sources of clean water would be compromised after such a disaster make the fact that Evan became a marginally better human being not such a great accomplishment as the movie wants us to think. The sequel to ''BruceAlmighty'', spoofing the biblical story of The Flood and Noah's ark. Evan Baxter (Bruce's rival from the first film) becomes a congressman and moves to Washington D.C. where God forces him to become the next Noah, presumably to save people (and animals) from the next Flood. This causes people, even his family, to think he's going crazy.

A stretch for the trope, not in-universe, and seems like a Take That

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Production on the flood scene became so big that the film turned out to become the most expensive comedy ever produced, all in the name of a five-minute climactic scene that most critics dismissed as not being that convincing or impressive at all. The budget basically ensured the movie was not going to turn a profit at all, moreso once the critical beatdown and middling box office came in.

* DolledUpInstallment: Was not originally written as a sequel to ''Bruce Almighty''. That would explain why the character Evan Baxter has a different personality, and really isn't the {{Jerkass}} he was in the first film.
** FridgeBrilliance: In the first film, Bruce knew Evan was a {{Jerkass}}, and Evan didn't think highly of Bruce himself. However, seeing Bruce change himself at the end of the film (you can see Evan applauding Bruce during his last news report in the film) may have inspired himself to be a better person. Nontheless, Evan still has a few self-centered moments in the sequel, particularly towards the stray dog that shows up.
* FridgeLogic: So much that it hits you even before you see the movie:
** The Bible says that God promised there would never be a second worldwide flood [[spoiler: and there isn't, it was a rather small one, but still, he let Evan and his family *believe* there would be one.]]
** After talking a lot about the importance of Free Will in the first film, God basically bullies Evan into his role.
** All of that drama just to [[spoiler: expose ONE crooked congressman?]] You'd think God could have that in much easier ways.
** The dam would bust anyway and it was not to expose the congressman, it was to bring Evans family back together (and save a few hundred people I guess)
** As Richard Roeper exasperatedly pointed out in his review, if no one believes Evan about his instantly-growing beard...''WHY DOESN'T HE JUST SHOW THEM THAT IT GROWS BACK RIGHT AWAY''?
** To say of nothing of the God character, who gave Bruce a limited amount of power as a teaching tool to better Bruce and the understanding of how God works in the first film to basically making Evan a ButtMonkey during his time, including forcing him to look like Noah in appearance for no reason whatsoever other than to make him look insane to everyone else.

end.

* JerkassGod: God not giving Evan much of a choice to be Noah certainly makes Him come off this way. As noted above, what happened to the importance of Free Will?
** And calling the World Flood "a love story", cause it was so heartwarming how Noah's family stood for each other. Seriously, Lord?
