This was ''Film/CarryOn's'' take on the movie ''Film/{{Cleopatra}}'', with a fraction of its budget. It was released in late 1964, and is considered one of the best ''Carry On'' films out of the entire franchise. It stars series regulars Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Joan Sims, Charles Hawtrey, Kenneth Connor and Jim Dale, and uses the [[RecycledSet old sets from the 20th Century Fox film]]. This film probably made more at the box office than the film it's parodying.

In Ancient Britain, Julius 'Julie' Caesar (Kenneth Williams) is on his way back from conquering the country along with his friend and general Marc 'Tony' Antony (Sid James). Eventually they get roped into the war between Ptolemy and Cleopatra, so Julius sends Marc to take Ptolemy's head. At the same time, Hengist and Horsa, two slaves captured from Britain, manage to escape into a temple of the Vestal Virgins, just in time for Caesar to arrive. Just when they think it's all over, Caesar's bodyguards betray him and move to kill. In the confusion, the bodyguards are killed and the confused Hengist is mistaken as the killer. Overcome with relief, Julius makes him his new Commandant and personal bodyguard. Meanwhile, 'Tony' has visited Cleopatra, but instead of taking her head, takes Ptolemy's instead because he is enamoured with her. They hatch a plot to kill Caesar and put Antony on the throne, starting a comedic and 'epic' tale of silliness and punnery as Hengist tries desperately to maintain the lie against increasing odds and repeated attempts by Tony.

In Ancient Britain, Julias Julius 'Julie' Caesar (Kenneth Williams) is on his way back from conquering the country along with his friend and general Marc 'Tony' Anthony Antony (Sid James). In the confusion, the bodyguards are killed and a the confused slave Hengist is mistaken as the killer. Overcome with relief, Julius makes him his new Commandant and personal bodyguard. Meanwhile, 'Tony' has visited Cleopatra, but instead of taking her head, takes Ptolemy's instead because he is enamoured with her. They hatch a plot to kill Caesar and put Anthony on the throne, starting a comedic and 'epic' tale of silliness and punnery as Hengist tries desperately to maintain the lie against increasing odds and repeated attempts by Tony.

!!Tropes in the film:
*AffectionateNickname: Julius has 'Julie' used by Anthony, while Anthony is known by 'Tony'.
*BodyguardBetrayal: Caesar's head bodyguard, Bilius, attempts to kill him 'for the good of Rome' to his startled surprise. Luckily the attempt is foiled by Horsa, while Hengist gets the credit.
*BrickJoke: Near the beginning, Seneca the seer tells Julius 'Beware the ides of March' but gets ignored. [[spoiler: Sure enough, near the end, he gets killed and a smug Seneca goes 'told you so'.]]
*CassandraTruth: Seneca keeps making ill potents which get ignored by Julius. PlayedForLaughs because Caesar regards him as a fool, but then takes it seriously when he sees a vision of himself [[spoiler: stabbed.]]
*DirtyOldMan: Seneca, as well as Anthony, as par for the course with a SidJames character.
*TheDreaded: How Julius uses Hengist, relying on his false reputation to keep the senate and others in line. Only Anthony seems to see through it..
*FemmeFatale: Cleopatra, who plots murder and is a keen manipulator. It's unclear however whether Cleopatra actually likes Anthony or just wants to rule both Rome and Egypt. Events at the end of the film imply the former, as they're still together [[spoiler: despite the plan failing]]
*HenpeckedHusband: Julius is at the mercy of his wife Calpurnia.
*PunnyName: Sosages, Cleopatra's bodyguard.
