* HollywoodPsych: The entire movie is built around this trope, showing how patients with Asperger's supposedly can't function without a minute-to-minute schedule, have extremely vivid hallucinations, are incapable of something as simple as taking a train, and can't interact with other human beings at all. The film was inaccurately praised for its "accuracy".

** There are two classmates of Ben's that feel sympathy towards him, but possibly because of his autism or fear of being attacked themselves don't do much to help him (the blond boy who sits next to him does film Ben getting pantsed so Ben can turn the footage over to the authorities, but doesn't come forward himself).

While not a darling of Dutch-language critics, the film did please the public, won some international prizes, and was the Belgian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar (it did not get a nomination).

The film was written and directed by Nic Balthazar, a Belgian presenter. It's based on a book and play, ''Niets was alles wat hij zei'', also written by Nic Balthazar. It was based on the story of a Belgian teenager with Aspergers.
