* SerialProstheses: Sador wants to live forever, so replaces ailing body parts with organs removed from his enemies by his torture-surgeon. According to his minions he's not above doing this to disobedient soldiers as well. Sador starts the movie with a damaged hand, so amputates the hand off the captured Nestor to replace it, then finds himself [[BlackComedy pondering his need for a new glove to fit the lesser number of fingers]]. His problem becomes moot [[EvilHand when he has to suddenly amputate the arm again]].

* HumanAliens: Yago describes the Akirans as having "forms" similar to their own: oxygen burners with bilateral symmetry. It makes sense that Sador would want to seek out victims with compatible biology, so he could use them for HumanResources if needed.

* HumanAliens: The Akirans and almost all the characters who aren't HumanoidAliens are explicitly stated to be from different species, but are all outwardly indistinguishable from regular humans.

* FamousLastWords: [[spoiler:Sador's last words as his ship blows up around him are a plaintive complaint that he wanted to live forever.]]

** As he's dying, Gelt bemoans his fate about dying in a third-rate galaxy.

* FacelessGoons: The Malmori landing force wear full-face helmets, presumably to protect them from their Sonic Tank.

* MundaneUtility: Caymen is shown warming his hands using the Kelvin rather than a fire.

* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: Saint-Exmin's death. [[spoiler:Sador has to lower the shields to fire the Stellar Converter, so Saint-Exmin crashes her ship into the Stellar Converter to disable it, ejecting in an EscapePod which is immediately surrounded by three Malmori fighters. She's tells the others ItHasBeenAnHonor and destructs the pod, [[TakingYouWithMe taking the fighters with her]].]]

* CowardlyLion: Cowboy, lampshaded by Shad after his death. "He didn't want to fight, but he came anyway."

* WhoWouldBeStupidEnough: Sador uses this trope to deride his NumberTwoForBrains when asking who'd come to aid the Akirans. "No-one would be that stupid, even you!"

* HugeHolographicHead: Sador delivering his ultimatum to Akir.

* BondVillainStupidity: This is what ends up doing Sador in. By the end of the final battle [[spoiler:he had already destroyed all the mercenary ships protecting Akira and disabled Nell, but his insistence on [[IWantThemAlive getting his hands on the last defenders]] is what allows Shad to blow him up.]]
