''American Mary'' is a 2012 horror film starring Creator/KatharineIsabelle, and directed by the Soska Sisters. It focuses on a young surgery student, Mary Mason, with financial troubles, resorting to offering services as a masseuse at a strip club. But at her interview at the strip club, Mary is asked to perform surgery on an injured man, the reward being $5,000 in cash. Soon, Mary begins to receive customers looking for extreme body modification, and her mind begins to unravel after betrayal from her medical school professor. The trauma forces her to quit and as the movie goes on she finds herself involved in the underground world of bod-mod, pushing the limits more and more.

* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: The Demon Twins of Berlin, played by the real life identical twins Jen and Sylvia Soska, who directed the film. Both look exactly alike, and their body modifications also match.

* AssholeVictim: Dr. Grant and Dr. Walsh. At first the two seem like harmless, but insensitive and arrogant pricks. However, it is soon revealed that they are a pair of serial rapists, frequently hosting "sex" parties wherin the female guests are drugged and raped, with said assaults being filmed. With Grant personally raping Mary and filming her assault. Both of them get theirs.
** Mary takes revenge on Grant by having him kidnapped and torturing him via extreme body modification, cutting off his limbs, sewing his mouth shut, implicitly castrating him, and leaving him hanging in a back room for days at least to test her more extreme body modifications on. Eventually she finishes him off.

* BlackAndGreyMorality: On one hand, Mary becomes a VillainProtagonist over the course of the movie, torturing a man with body modification, and killing a security guard who tried to rescue him. While her body modification business is ostensibly legitimate, she is backed up by the mob. On the other hand, [[spoiler:the people Mary is up against is her Medical school teachers, who turn out to be a pair of [[SerialRapist Serial Rapists]], and the disgruntled husband of one of her customers who tries to kill Mary for his wife's surgery. Mary kills him in self defense.]]

* CampingACrapper: Mary's stalks and attacks the woman she caught giving Billy head in the club's restroom. She catches her and has bent over the sink, about to cut her throat when she thinks better of it and lets her go.

As an investigation reveals, this was something they've been doing for a while. Mary is simply the latest victim.]]
* StabTheSalad: The opening shots show black gloved hands making incisions into flesh and then stitching them up. However, this turns out be Mary practicing her surgical technique by sewing extra wings on to a turkey.

* ADateWithRosiePalms: One of Mary's customers tries to masturbate after having some work done on his penis... before it had a chance to heal. Mary points out what a moronic thing this is to do.

* HateSink: Dr. Grant and Dr. Walsh are the films [[AssholeVictim Asshole Victims]], seeming harmless despite them being pricks; Grant would belittle Mary in class; Walsh had Mary falsely tell a patients family that their father just died to teach a lesson. It’s discovered Grant and Walsh are a duo of serial rapists, who’d often host parities where the female guests are all drugged and raped on film. Mary ends up at one of these parties and is raped by Grant. For these, Grant is later tortured by Mary, and put through a horrific body modification surgery; while Walsh is beaten to death by Billy for his involvement.
