* Recommended by [=taotruths=]
* ''Status'': Complete (One-Shot with two chapters)
* ''Synopsis'': Samus Aran. Renowed Bounty Hunter. Bane of Space Pirates. The most dangerous warrior in the galaxy. Calling her dad before she leaves for work.
* ''Comments'': A two chapter story that serves as a prologue and epilogue of ''VideoGame/MetroidDread'', where Samus gives a call to her adoptive bird dad Old Bird, with some very heartwarming father-daughter interactions between the two, with Old Bird getting worried about her mission to ZDR because...well, [[spoiler:Raven Beak being her blood bird donor father]]. The second chapter focuses on him worrying about his daughter fighting the sins of her fathers, and even features [[Manga/MetroidManga Pyonchi from the manga]], where they live together on a farm. [[spoiler:Also Old Bird's reaction to Samus turning into a Metroid for real serves as a great capper for an angst ridden story]].

* ''Status'': Complete (One-shot)
* ''Synopsis'': The Mawkin are the last of the Chozo tribes to meet the Luminoth on Aether. Too bad Raven Beak's not a stirring diplomat, and is only interested in one thing as usual: power.
* Comments: A CanonWelding fic that connects both ''VideoGame/MetroidPrime2Echoes'' and ''VideoGame/MetroidDread'' together, as it was stated that the Luminoth and Chozo knew each other before the events of the former game. It's also based on the theory of how Raven Beak got the Sunburst attack, along with suggesting that the Luminoth's Seeker Missiles were modified Chozo Storm Missiles. Not only that, it gives an insight into the mind of Raven Beak, where despite his stoic nature, it suggests that it's a defense mechanism to hide how much of a bloodthirsty savage that he really is, and how he views anything he deems to be beneath his power. There's even a cool fight scene between Raven Beak and the Luminoth champion A-Kul.

* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': She is quiet, mysterious, and incredibly powerful. Now, we examine the early life and adventures of Samus Aran in a faithful, well-researched account of the rise of Metroid.
* ''Comments'': A novelization of the Manga/MetroidManga that aims to present a more realistic view of the series setting and [[AdaptationExpansion expands on what the manga showed us]]. The author is quite well versed in the franchise's lore and includes quite a number of references and {{Call Forward}}s to future games, missing only ''VideoGame/MetroidDread'' (understandable, since this story was published on June 25, 2018). Unusually, the novella is available for sale on [[https://www.amazon.com/dp/1387863959 Amazon]] but the full story is also a PDF on the author's website free of charge.

* ''Status'': One-shot
* ''Synopsis'': Samus returns to K-2L to pay her respects.
* ''Comments'': Set at an unspecified time late in the series, this is probably the only fanfic where Samus takes time to return to where it all began to reflect on her origins and show how much her biological parents mean to her.

* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': Samus considers her relationship with Chozo spiritualism as she defeats one of her greatest foes yet.
* ''Comments'': Short and sweet, this is a great meditation on what the religion of the Chozo might be like regarding their dead and how Samus fits in with all that. It's also satisfying to see a certain villain from ''Dread'' get what's coming to him.

* ''Status'': Complete... ''technically''. Parts 0-VI form a complete story, and Part VI was originally meant to be the ending of the series and ties off much of the story arcs with a fulfilling finale, so one could stop reading there without missing anything. [[SeriesFauxnale However]], Part VII was eventually written, and started a brand new story arc after a TimeSkip that ends on an incomplete cliffhanger, which will never be continued as Giegie stopped writing ''Metroid'' fanfiction shortly afterwards.

* ''Comments'': While admittedly inspired by Hatchling Quest, Duodecimarch is firmly rooted in Krasnyy Spartak's fascinating takes on Metroid and the involved crossovers, where he demonstrates his mad genius for crossing over wildly different settings into a coherent and fascinating narrative. While so far in a pedal to the metal pace, what's been shown so far is tantalizing mystery and intrigue that spans many factions and many realities with two awkward but earnest teen heroes with a passion for helping those down on their luck with differing ways to cope with their separate but similar traumas. Samus is an eager, sometimes silly but determined and heroic young girl whose painful past drives her onwards to protect others even as the memories tear at her; Arne is also an orphan like her, but also an abuse victim trying to recover his sense of self-worth after his Alimbic foster parents tore much of it down. Making both a wide and diverse array of friends and battling a staggering array of enemies, it also promises a starker take on alien invasion and imperialism tropes as the two are caught in the affairs of great powers from many realities that the Earths being targeted will struggle to handle. Spartak's worldbuilding, characterization, engaging mystery and conflict, and sheer sense of fun are impeccable, and while he writes a lot, the pacing with which he writes never feels dragging despite the nominal length of the posts. High-octane action that gives you a feel for the enormous power of the characters involved is tightly used, with a great sense of how to use characters of differing powers and power levels while keeping them relevant.

* ''Synopsis'': After the fall of Phaaze and the end of the X-plague the galaxy was at peace. But as Samus wandered out at the edges of space, whispers came to her of something new: an ancient discovery, a Space Pirate force bearing down on a Federation outpost, and a fight brewing in the bones of the silent Chozo empire.
* ''Comments'': This long and continuous adventure mystery narrative is the perfect mix of an engaging sci-fi story and the experience of actually playing a new Metroid game. It captures the feeling of the genera so well, slipping game mechanics in with in-universe explanations that subtly become part of how you remember the lore. This Samus is a fantastic depiction, the fearsome yet caring warrior seen as an alien by every one of the races she might claim as her own.
