After coming face-to-face with Wendigo, who revealed he killed Summer, Ruby goes into a state of shot so deep Pyrrha smacking her in the face doesn’t get a reaction out of her. It isn’t until Pyrrha is screaming in pain as Wendigo attempts to rip her prosthetic leg off does she snap out of it, unintentionally blasting Wendigo with her silver eyes in the process.

* ShooOutTheClowns: Team CARD left Volume 3 just as the fall of Beacon began, they made a brief, comedic cameo and then vanished. They haven’t appeared at all throughout the entirety of the DarkerAndEdgier Volume 4.

* KnightOfCerebus: Adam Taurus, despite not being very present in the first two volumes, causes a lot of pain in Winter’s life, causing her to be cynical and jaded.

*** The first is when Ruby has to put her in line for acting like a spoiled brat because Ozpin chose Ruby as team leader instead of her. She tells Weiss that while Ruby has been doing what she can to be the best leader possible despite the fact that she still feels in over her head, Weiss has done nothing but demean and belittle others rather than even attempt to be a cohesive team member. She end it by pointing out that even though Weiss calls Ruby immature, Ruby correctly points out that [[{{Hypocrite}} Weiss isn't a bastion of maturity herself for how she has been behaving]].

* SerialKiller: Nightwalker was this with a nasty blend of SpreeKiller.

* AdaptationalBadass: Though he still snuck his way into Beacon, Jaune is very capable in combat and doesn’t need Pyrrha to train him.

* DarkerAndEdgier: Volume 3 and 4. With the Fall of Beacon being far more harrowing in this series then and canon, and Volume 4’s tone is so apocalyptically bleak the author got a comment criticizing the volume for doing so.

* VorpalPillow: How Glynda {{Mercy Kill}}ed her wife. This is justified as Gannet couldn’t put up much of a struggle due to being paralyzed from the neck down.

* CrusadingWidower: Robyn’s wife was killed in an assassination bombing orchestrated by Jacques, and the first thing she does before running against him in the Atlas election is tear apart his criminal empire.

* AdaptationalJerkass: '''Weiss'''. As part of her DeconstructedCharacterArchetype is much more a petulant, whiny, spoiled bigoted jerk who ''none'' of the Beacon students could stand.
