* SelfDeprication: When Daisuke starts [[LampshadeHanging lampshading]] Izuku's status as a shounen protagonist, Izuku privately thinks that if he ''was'' a shounen protagonist, meeting All Might would be chapter 2 in his story, because his backstory would obviously be Chapter 1, "unless whatever sadistic author is in charge is just an idiot." ''Unlimited'''s first chapter is random timeskips describing events in Izuku's life that haven't happened yet from various outsiders' perspectives.

** A variant with the Subterranean and Sky Kings. In ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'', the Subterranean King is only badass [[OnlyADream in Saitama's dream]], and the real-life version of him goes down even easier than Saitama's usual enemies, while the Sky King was effortlessly destroyed by Boros' ship. In this fic, the Subterranean King manages to give actual heroes trouble and didn't go down until Izuku showed up, and the Sky King required the Number 3 hero Hawks to defeat him.

* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Hatsume Mei is so flighty and easily distracted that she had trouble remembering who certain people are (beyond vaguely remembering certain attributes) let alone hold a grudge. Because of this, her AI creation Monitor tends to get offended on her behalf, constantly threatening and antagonizing Izuku whenever Mei's antics causes him to be "rude".

* BattleInTheRain: Izuku's showdown with fellow anomalies Stain and Dabi takes place in the middle of a heavy rainfall, which only gets worse for him when the Deep Sea King and his soldiers show up. The incident is appropriately nicknamed "the Storm" by people afterwards.

* JadeColoredGlasses: Downplayed. Izuku has a decent amount of faith in others... but none left in the authorities. As he explains, "I have been scolded by the same hero five times, twice for getting shot and once for walking out of a hostage situation where I was the hostage. I really, really doubt that they could've done more to help." Because the authorities relied on Izuku to save others and even intentionally threw him into crises rather than adequately handling the issue themselves, no authority has any credibility left in Izuku's eyes to convince Izuku he can trust them to save others. Their further refusal to give any post-incident response to him besides scolding makes them appear self-righteous, ungrateful, and/or too rule-bound to care how their actions affect the person who's repeatedly bailing them out, and only fuels Izuku's distrust and disregard. [[spoiler:Nezu's callous manipulations make it worse.]]

* ReadingsAreOffTheScale: Eventually, Izuku becomes powerful enough that his progress can no longer be measured. Monitor mentions that the most weight Izuku has been recorded lifting was eight thousand kilograms with one hand and there currently isn't a material dense enough to create a heavier weight for him to lift. Similarly, Izuku is measured as having run 100 meters in just under three nanoseconds, but Monitor admits to not having a fast enough framerate on his camera to actually track Izuku properly.

This or these examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected, or something is just an innate aspect of the setting or character that has a logical reason for being present); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** All Might fails to find Izuku after the sludge villain incident. Without even knowing the boy's name, All Might has no hope of tracking a child in a city. By missing the opportunity immediately after the incident, it becomes virtually impossible to find Izuku.
** When Izuku spends several hours a day out of the house and comes back with a handful of money, Inko thinks he's doing something illegal like taking or selling drugs, working as an illegal sidekick, or even acting as a villain, especially when Izuku accidentally rips their front door in two. It takes a drug test and another Quirk test to believe that Izuku really has just been exercising and helping people around town.
** Despite knowing Izuku is functionally invulnerable, the police still have him checked over by paramedics each time he's involved in an incident, such as getting caught in an explosion or being shot by a trio of criminals. Though the police also don't take Izuku being in danger seriously because of the same invulnerability.
*** When Izuku regularly gets into dangerous situations involving criminals, a number of criminals notice the police basically ignoring him and pity Izuku, thinking he's been written off.
** Police going in and out of the Midoriya apartment regularly gives Izuku a reputation as a particularly nasty delinquent, especially since he's often picked up from school by a squad car.
** After being caught in an explosion, Izuku is unharmed but deafened for several minutes despite his invulnerability.
** No one believes Izuku is Quirkless when he tells them, resulting in the boy carrying around a laminated copy of his Quirk test results.
*** Similarly, many believe the so called "Anomalies" are actually just people with exceedingly powerful Quirks, not people with superpowers unrelated to their Quirks.
** After meeting All For One, Izuku goes to UA for help, only to have a breakdown from the stress of not only having the world's greatest supervillain interested in him, but being outright told that other villains will be after him and his mother as well.
** When Izuku and Stain fight at supersonic speeds during the Storm, their steps leave cracks and imprints (and sometimes outright craters) when they land. Also, because they're moving faster than sound, the entire battle is silent from their perspective.
** Even though he's aware on some level that it's making Izuku's trust issues worse due to the authorities looking like [[UngratefulBastard Ungrateful Bastards]], Tsukauchi notes that the police still have to abide by policy and officially reprimand Izuku for getting involved, regardless of now necessary it was and/or whether the police tacitly encouraged it. That said...
** When Izuku is finally tried for reckless endangerment, among other things, it quickly becomes apparent that most of the situations he was involved in were due to police negligence from cops allowing Izuku to wander into dangerous situations because it made their jobs easier. The charges are dropped and the entire trial swept under the rug in exchange for Izuku's silence on the matter.
** After losing his arm to Shigaraki, Bakugo continues exercising while in the hospital, despite doctor's orders not to exert himself while preparing to have a prosthetic arm attached. Eventually Melissa has to explain that regardless of his physical conditioning, the surgery won't succeed if Bakugo goes into it exhausted due to the taxing nature of the procedure.
** Despite them being monsters, Izuku is still traumatized by being forced to massacre the Deep Sea Kin.
** Eventually, Izuku becomes powerful enough that his progress can no longer be measured.

Their further refusal to give any response besides scolding makes them appear self-righteous, ungrateful, and/or too rule-bound to care how their actions affect the person who's repeatedly bailing them out, and only fuels Izuku's distrust and disregard.
