* AbsenceOfEvidence: There is no evidence to support Yu Zhenhong’s suggestion that Jin Guangyao caused the plague upon Lufeng, or the other characters’ assumption that the plague caused the land-eater to appear. Later, we discover that neither of these conjectures were accurate.

* AlternateUniverseFic: Since Twelve Moons and a Fortnight introduces many original characters and plot/worldbuilding aspects that were not present in any Mo Dao Zu Shi adaptation, it is an AU. However, it is mostly canon compliant with The Untamed.

* InnocentCohabitation: Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji live together during most of the story, but Lan Wangji doesn’t confess his feelings until the final arc. * KidFromTheFuture: Lan Wangji is currently estranged from Wei Wuxian. So he is shocked and delighted that he will eventually have 3 children with him.

* IncompatibleOrientation: Lan Xichen is aromantic asexual, while he loves Nie Mingjue very deeply he does not love him romantically.

** Lan Wangji understands that Wei Wuxian needs time to gather his bearing in his new life and fulfill his duties to the Jiang Sect, and waits patiently until the latter is ready to acknowledge and return his feelings.

* ExactWords: Xiao Yu's mother told him that they were staying in the brothel in the hopes of his father, a wealthy cultivator, will reunite with them and take them to live in his beautiful home. Wei Wuxian points out to Xiao Yu that he also fulfills that criteria as his ''adoptive'' father.

** The toddler Xiao Yu kept escaping his orphanage to return to the brothel in hopes of reuniting with his father like his mother attempted. His wait ends Wei Wuxian offers to adopt him.

* MamaBear: [[spoiler: Lang Xiyan sacrificed her life to resurrect Wen Qing, the setting's most healer, in the hopes that she would be able to her dying baby.]]

* FanVerse: There are over thirty fanfictions that take place in the Twelve Moons and a Fortnight verse. Most feature Wei Wuxian’s married life to Lan Wangji following the events of the first fic, though some are set before or even during the events of Twelve Moons and a Fortnight.

* Wimpification: Twelve Moons and a Fortnight is primarily an Untamed fic, which already featured a weakened Wei Wuxian, but Wei Wuxian’s health issues in the fic make him much weaker than he was in the novel. However, his emotional and mental fortitude remain unaffected.

Wei Wuxian identifies the makeup by its scent, and deduces that it could only have belonged to Mo Xuanyu (because the book’s original owner was a doctor, who would not have regularly worn makeup, and Mo Xuanyu was known for heavily powdering his face).
