* DiscOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler:Mike has taken ''several'' levels in jerkass, and it's more than implied that this is because Mal, the SuperpoweredEvilSide BigBad of ''All Stars'', had much more of an effect on the SplitPersonalityMerge in the finale of that season than Mike would care to admit. This, combined with the [[AllYourPowersCombined canonical nature of this merge]], makes him into an absolute force to be reckoned with... And then he's eliminated first by his all-too-GenreSavvy teammates, at Duncan's behest. Courtney would follow suit in Episode 7.]]

* SacrificialLion: Fittingly, every loss of the Limelight Lions shifts the direction of the series. [[spoiler: Mike kickstarts Zoey's CharacterDevelopment, Scott's departure leaves Courtney ''and'' Heather more competitive, as well as faking friendship, and Owen is so beloved that his quite violent elimination upset nearly everyone.]] Conversely, there has yet to be an Obscure Otter whose departure radically changed something. [[spoiler: Anne Maria didn't do much of significance, and Dawn completed her character arc and allowed herself to be eliminated, while her presence was only especially important to Eva.]]

* ShipTease: The story is tagged with "implied Duncan/Zoey" and "implied Eva/Izzy," after all. The former has definitely started being teased, whereas with the latter, Eva and Izzy, while hanging out whenever it isn't obstructive, haven't really been teased that much as of chapter 3.

Basically, it's either a DoubleSubversion for [[spoiler:Heather]], or just straight-up subverted for [[spoiler:Scott]].

* RonTheDeathEater: Mike is a fairly straightforward example, his suddenly becoming an asshole [[spoiler:justifying his early elimination]]. Ironically, WordOfGod is that both authors agree that their Mike is ''better'' than [[TheGenericGuy his actual]] [[RomanticPlotTumor self]], [[spoiler: and that they partially regret his early elimination for this exact reason]]. At least he still has redeeming traits, though.
