On a normal morning of competing for spots in the long line to the bathroom and ragging on each other over breakfast at The Loud House, Lisa Loud collects spit samples from her siblings for a simple and innocent experiment looking into their family's DNA. Unaware that in doing so, she would uncover a piece of information that would change her family forever: Lincoln is adopted!

Now the Loud family must deal with the emotional fallout of her discovery and just as it seems like they might have adjusted to the situation, Rita and Lynn Sr. drop another bombshell on the kids: [[spoiler: Lincoln also has a long lost twin sister!]]

* BeserkButton: Thinking about Lincoln [[spoiler: and Linka's]] abusive birth mother is this for Rita.
* BrickJoke: Early after her introduction to us, while [[spoiler: Linka's]] bemoaning the fact she doesn't have anyone willing to play tag with her. [[spoiler: The first thing she does after she and Lincoln get past the awkward part of their first official meeting is challenge him to a game.]]
* CoolBigSis: Lori strives to fill this role better, following her CharacterDevelopment.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Downplayed; While the story is by no means "dark and edgy" per se, especially compared to certain other Loud House fics, and there are plenty of light hearted moments through out, its tone is still noticeably more serious than the cartoon
* DelayedReaction:
** An important plot point is that Lori (and the other three oldest Loud Sisters for that matter) doesn't realize that the DNA research Lisa was collecting when they woke up in the morning would reveal Lincoln as adopted till later that day, when it's too late to stop it from happening. Justified in that it had been so long since their brother's adoption at that point, it's not something they really even think about anymore, with Lori herself even comparing it to thinking about the sky being blue; something you always know in the back of your mind, but never really have reason to think on it.
** Also, when Lisa see's that Lincoln's DNA doesn't match the rest of the family, she doesn't realize the ramifications of this information until after she's already spoken it out loud in front of him and the rest of their siblings.
* DisappearedDad: The whereabouts and identity of Lincoln's [[spoiler: and Linka's]] biological father isn't commented on.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: [[spoiler: Linka]] becomes this in the latter half of the story, starting right after her existence is revealed.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: A fairly light-hearted but still noticeable example occurs during Lincoln [[spoiler: and Linka's first car ride together on the way to the latter's parents' house]] where after being told about the "games" Lynn plays with Lincoln on car rides, she decides to without warning, initiate their first "play fight" [[spoiler: as siblings]] and while they both have a lot of fun messing with each other during the ride to her house, [[spoiler: Linka's]] allowed to hit Lincoln all she wants, albeit lightly enough to not cause any serious damage but still hard enough to hurt, while he feels the need to use less direct methods at getting retribution, like giving her a wet-willy. She even gets a final cheap shot in after they're out of the car and he thinks it's over, without being called out on it by either him or her parents.
* FailedToSpotCheck: Played for drama in a flashback to when Lynn Sr. and Rita first brought Lincoln home, where Luna was so caught up in playing with her new baby brother, it took her hours to realize [[spoiler: his twin and her would be adopted sister Linka wasn't with them.]]
* GirlyGirl: [[spoiler: Linka is presented as this, though with a minor [[GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak tomboy streak]]]].
* GoodParents: Both the Louds and [[spoiler: the Randalls]] are presented as this.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: [[spoiler: Lincoln and Linka]] are said to still bear a striking resemblance to each other, despite not technically being identical twins, being different sexes and all.
* HalfwayPlotSwitch: By chapter nine in a story with over twenty chapters, most of the drama with Lincoln finding out he's adopted has more or less been wrapped up. Then at the very end of the chapter we get the reveal [[spoiler: that Lincoln has a long lost twin sister.]]
* HappilyAdopted: Lincoln [[spoiler: and Linka both are]] more or less this, despite not being aware of this fact at the beginning and dealing with some… feelings after finding out.
* IGaveMyWord: During Lori's JerkassRealization, mentioned below, she recalls after finding out about the abusive home Lincoln came from, she promised her new baby brother he'd never be hurt in their home and realizes she's failed that promise miserably.
* ImStandingRightHere: After the Loud Siblings learn about [[spoiler: Lincoln's twin sister Linka]], Lisa offhandedly mentions to herself that she's always wanted to study ''opposite sex" twins, but has been cursed with Lana and Lola, who immediatly object to this statement. After apologizing, Lisa says she can be as air headed as Leni… who is also in earshot.
--> '''Lori:''' Now you're doing it on purpose!
--> '''Lisa:''' Who said geniuses couldn't have a sense of humor.
* IWantGrandkids: A variation; after learning Lincoln and Ronnie-Anne are getting more serious about their relationship, Luna playfully insists he get around to making her an aunt sometime, despite the fact, as Lincoln himself points, they're still just eleven.
* ImplausibleHairColor: [[spoiler: Linka brings up what an oddity having white hair is, especially since neither of her parents share this trait.]]
* JerkassRealization: While Lincoln's in his funk over finding out about his adoption, Lori takes a long, hard look at their past together and realizes that she hasn't lived up to her role as big sister to Lincoln or her other siblings for that matter as much as she'd like and decides to change that.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Only the Loud children's parents, Lynn Sr. and Rita, the four oldest sisters, and [[spoiler: Linka's parents]] were aware of Lincoln [[spoiler: and Linka's]] adoption prior to Lisa blowing the lid on the situation
* LonelyRichKid: Down played with [[spoiler: Linka]], the only child of an upper-middle- class family, who has casual friends at school and even a potential boyfriend, but at home only has her cat, Hawthorne, for company while her parents work.
* LongLostReletive: [[spoiler: Lincoln's twin sister Linka.]]
* MamaBear: Rita's blood really starts to boil when thinking about Lincoln's [[spoiler: and Linka's]] [[AbusiveParent birth mother]].
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: This aspect of the Loud Family is lampshaded a couple times.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Lisa immediately regrets accidentally blowing the lid on Lincoln's origins.
* ObliviousToAdoption: Lincoln [[spoiler: and Linka]].
* OhCrap: Lori has this reaction upon realizing that Lisa's DNA research is going to reveal Lincoln's not their biological brother, before cutting her date with Bobbie short to run home and stop it. She's too late. Luna and Luan have similar, albeit more subdued reactions, due to already being too late to do anything but comfort him about it.
*OutOfCharacterIsSeriousBuissness: Lincoln's sisters notice that he stops walking around the house in his underwear after finding out he's adopted and realize it's a sign that he doesn't feel comfortable being so relaxed about his modesty in-front of his sisters anymore, now that he knows their not blood siblings. Though they don't comment on it, they're relieved the first time they see him walk out of his room in his undies again.
* OutnumberedSibling: Lynn teases Lincoln over this after [[spoiler: they learn of his long lost twin sister, bringing him up to '''eleven''' sisters and no brothers.]]
--> '''Lynn:''' Maybe mom and dad will get to work on giving you a brother one day.
*PetitePride: While the Loud Children are roasting each other over breakfast in the first chapter, Lynn's flat chest gets mentioned as an insult, only for her to brush it off by pointing out having large breasts would hinder her otherwise athletic build.
*PrecisionFStrike: The word b***h is used a couple of times in this manner by Lincoln's sisters when they ''really'' get under each other's skin.
* RelatedInAdaptation: In canon, [[spoiler: Linka was merely a gender swapped version of Lincoln that appears briefly in a DreamEpisode]]. Here, she's his [[spoiler: long lost twin sister.]]
** UnrelatedInAdaptation: Of course Lincoln isn't related to the rest of The Loud Family by blood in this story. Not that this matters much to any of them, at least at the end of the day.
* RelationshipUpgrade: A subplot early in the story is this happening between Lincoln and Ronnie-Anne.
* RuleOfThree: [[spoiler: Linka's]] cat will apparently tolerate her getting on his nerves exactly two times before he bites her, since he likes her. She pushes her luck by messing with him a third time moments after she had gotten on his nerves twice.
* SeperatedAtBirth: [[spoiler: Lincoln and Linka, thanks to a clerical error that lead to both the Louds and Linka's parents the Randalls both adopting the twins, leading to both families having to compromise by only taking one each.]]
* SiblingWanted: [[spoiler: Linka]] wants one, but her parents don't feel the "time is right" to try having another. [[spoiler: Luckily she learns she had a brother all along… who comes with ten other siblings]].
* SurpriseInsist: Discussed while Lincoln's playing ball with Lynn in the days leading up to his [[spoiler: his first meeting with his twin sister Linka]], she jokingly warns him to be careful who he gets together with in the future while he doesn't know who could be biologically related to him and goes into rather… squicky detail about the potential "consequences'' of such a union to mess with him.
* SwitchingPOV: The story periodically switches from Lincoln's point of view to his sister's, particularly [[spoiler: Linka]].
* TakeThat: At one point, Ronnie-Anne jokingly asks if she should worry about one of the girls Lincoln lives with stealing him from her, since they now know they're not biologically related. Lincoln, predictively, reacts with utter disgust at the idea of being romantically involved with one of his sisters and asks why everyone keeps asking about him and his sisters in that context, likely as a jab at the infamous Loudcest ships in the fandom… and possibly a bit of SelfDepracation on the part of the author, who has dabbled in that themself.
* TitleDrop: While talking to her about finding out he's adopted and his feelings about the situation, Ronnie-Anne tells Lincoln "Love is thicker than blood".
* TookALevelInKindness: As mentioned above, Lori tries to make an effort to be a better big sister figure after the scare with Lincoln finding out about his adoption. It seems to be working and even seems to be rubbing off on her siblings, who's jabs at each other at the dinner table have become noticeably less mean spirited .
* UngratefulBastard: One of Lincoln's (thankfully unfounded) fears after finding out he's adopted is that his parents thought this of him every time he threw a tantrum and acted up, after they took him in. He manages to push these thoughts away by reminding himself his family ''does'' love him… then starts thinking he's ungrateful for having these thoughts about them to begin with.
* WalkingSpoiler: [[spoiler: Linka]] is single handedly responsible for most, if not all of the spoiler tags on this page.
*WhamLine:
--> '''Lynn Sr.:''' [[spoiler: You have another sister… a twin.]]]
