The fanfiction also serves as a fanmade retelling of Odd Squad's history and takes a couple liberties with how certain episodes' events and how certain characters are presented.

* CaffeineBulletTime: Oz has five cups of hot cocoa and becomes so jittery from the sugar that he can't even walk straight and offers to buy Polly grapes for the duck that keeps asking her for some, even though she thinks people will be weirded out if they see an invisible being buying grapes. Him downing hot chocolate and lemonade from her stand as though it's beer, and him visiting her stand, becomes a regular thing after a while.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Oprah becoming the leader of a precinct full of hundreds of agents, and having to deal with things like paperwork and cases, leaves her with very little free time, as she and O'Donahue both find out the hard way. Unfortunately, O'Donahue can't comprehend why she can't hang out with him as often as she used to, and it severs their friendship and relationship as he simultaneously quits Odd Squad and breaks up with her, which in turn causes her to become jaded and bitter for the rest of her life.

* UnknowinglyInLove:
** Oprah initially feels herself falling in love with O'Donahue, but brushes off the feelings because she's unfamiliar with the concept of love. O'Donahue feels the same way, but unlike Oprah, he knows about love.
** When Oscar mentions that his Truth-Sniffer-inator gadget is his favorite one, Olive gets butterflies in her stomach. However, instead of realizing what the feeling means, she brushes it off as nervousness and reassures herself that she has nothing to hide from him. The pair eventually end up in a relationship.

Although his mom can't see it, she hugs her crying son as she receives contact info for two organizations that deal with supernatural things. Similarly, Oprah and O'Donahue -- who are children themselves -- are also exposed to the Creepypasta for the first time, and become so traumatized by it that they are unable to watch any sort of television without being unnerved for ''nearly a year.''

* DopeSlap: Oprah gives O'Donahue a couple of these when she confronts him about failing to recognize the signs of "DUIOUT", and how him getting in a van with a DrunkDriver and getting into a nasty car wreck had left him hospitalized.

It's stated that the breakup caused Oprah to become the TinyTyrannicalGirl with a hot temper that she is in the present day, and the breakup has taken a mental toll on her as well -- when Otto asks her if there are any other agents over the course of Odd Squad's history that have been in romantic relationships with each other, she becomes on the verge of a breakdown and has to retreat somewhere private so he, Olive and Oscar won't see her0.

* TranslatorBuddy: Oren is the first agent who can understand Olaf, and whenever Olaf speaks, only Olaf can understand him, and what he says are just nonsensical words to outsiders.

* DarkerAndEdgier: To an extent. It's not incredibly violent or gory, but it does rely heavily on romance, which was barely present in the original series outside of a few ShipTease moments, and features characters going one step beyond ShipTease into forming full-fledged relationships with other characters. It also has themes of mental illness and parental issues prevalent throughout, particularly with Oprah and her backstory.

* CoughSnarkCough: When Otto explains that he's taking Opal to see ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Minions}}]]'' on the weekend, Oscar coughs under his breath, "Good luck with that, heh."
