* TheMole: As soon as Luna reveals herself to be alive to him, Jeremiah immediately becomes this for her. He brings Viletta along for the ride.
* MysteriousBacker: Luna is one of the founding members and the primary backer of the JLF. Atsushi Sawasaki and the Chinese Federation give their backing to the Blood of the Samurai.
* [[PuppetKing Puppet Viceroy]]: Luna plans to use Clovis to make sweeping policy changes in Japan, essentially fulfilling her objectives there without needing to face Britannia militarily. He goes along with it, knowing that he's no great administrator and that it would spare him from C.C.'s wrath. [[SpannerInTheWorks Unfortunately...]]
* RefugeInAudacity: After [[spoiler:Clovis dies]], Luna makes one last gamble to take Japan without having open war. She does this by [[spoiler:having the JLF deploy all their forces to critical locations (and having Jeremiah legitimize them) and then march to Tokyo and declare herself Viceroy]]. This is one part of why this plan works.
* SecretIdentity: Luna goes by Clare Lautrec in school while her schoolmate Naoto Kouzuki takes up the name Nathan Stadtfeld. They muse on the similarities of their circumstance as she hires him to help prop up her double life.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Luna's plans for Clovis would've worked too, [[spoiler:if it weren't for Kusakabe and the Blood of the Samurai killing him in their attempt to go out in a blaze of glory]].
* SummonBiggerFish: Another reason why Luna's bloodless takeover of Japan works is because Britannia can't afford to get into a shooting war with the JLF while the Chinese Federation is waiting in Kyushu for any signs of weakness.
* SuperweaponSurprise: It's surprising enough to see the JLF touting some new knightmare frames that surpasses Britannia's frontline frames in quality, but it's another matter entirely when [[spoiler:they show off their own airship. Especially since this one is so large that it dwarfs Cornelia's ''entire'' fleet on its lonesome]].
* UriahGambit: The Purists would be a liability to Area 11, what with the more equal policy changes being enacted. So Luna decides to have them at the front of their engagements with the Blood of the Samurai, leaving them at a disadvantage for the JLF troops deployed to wipe them both out.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Luna finds Mao as she looks for C.C. in the Code-R facilities. Then kills him after she uses him to get information from the scientists because she knows that he's too dangerous to let live.
* YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters: The Blood of the Samurai are extremely unpopular in Japan as most of their kills are Japanese. They justify this by saying that all those who bow their heads to Britannia are traitors even as moderates like Katase understand that people only want to get through life as best they can.
