* YouKeepUsingThatWord: Steve says that sleeping with Celestia is "like sleeping with a horse", then describes it as a terrible ''metaphor''. In reality, sentences that use "like" in that context are called similes, and it's not even a proper simile as Celestia ''is'' a horse.

''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/212626/1/princess-celestia-is-in-your-bed/what-do Princess Celestia is in Your Bed]]'' is a comedy FanFic of ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''.

The basic plot is that Princess Celestia has been banished by her sister Luna and is now living (against his will at first) with a man named Steve and his roommate Wayne. She is first discovered when Steve gets home from work and finds her napping in his bed, hence the title. Despite the word "your", Steve is the narrator and he's referred to as "I" and "me", not "you". Celestia is also a lot more inconsiderate and childish than in canon, and she likes strawberry fanta.

In the first story, Steve comes home to find his fanta gone and Celestia in his bed. She's not interested in leaving and instead makes it dark early and forces Steve to share a bed with her. In the sequel, ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/308911/1/princess-celestia-is-still-in-your-bed/its-630-am-and-shes-eating-peaches Princess Celestia is Still in Your Bed]]'', Steve sleeps on the couch because he is bothered by Celestia getting in the way and farting. In the third story, ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/315524/1/princess-celestia-has-stolen-all-your-bed-sheets/project-pony-pillow Princess Celestia Has Stolen All Your Bed Sheets]]'', Celestia steals all of Steve and Wayne's bedding and apparently the world's, claiming to have replaced them with ponies from her world. Strangely, Steve is the only one who minds. In the final story, ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/339698/princess-celestia-is-in-your-washing-machine Princess Celestia is in Your Washing Machine]]'', Celestia bathes in Steve and Wayne's washing machine.
!! ''Princess Celestia is in Your Bed'' provides examples of
* AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal: Just like in the show, Celestia is naked except for "hoof-boots" and a crown.
* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: Steve mentions technicolor ponies from Equestria invading Earth.
* AmbiguousSituation: Steve describes his apprehension at sharing a bed with Celestia as being like the feeling of being afraid to jump off a diving board but not wanting to be seen wimping out in front of everybody including "that cute girl named Melissa who sits in front of you in French II", then taking the dive and realizing your trunks are on too loosely. It's very specific but it's not revealed if Steve was thinking of a very specific scenario or if it was an actual experience he had.
* AppropriateAnimalAttire: It's mentioned a few times that while ponies are fine with being naked, humans aren't.
* BestialityIsDepraved: Steve points out that some people on the Internet write pornographic fanfiction about humans making love with ponies, and is disturbed by the idea, but notes that Celestia "probably didn't have ''that'' in mind".
* ButtMonkey: Steve often has bad luck having to share a house with this version of Celestia.
* CaptainObvious: Steve describes his orange juice as "probably healthier... unless it went bad".
* CloudCuckooLander:
** Celestia is this, way more so than in canon where she only has a slight [[ThePrankster prankster]] side. In this fic, she behaves childishly, sleeps on her back like a cat, and seems preoccupied with soft things.
** Apparently, Wayne is a bit wacky too. When Steve thinks Wayne is the one who took his fanta, he describes using the wine glass as weird, "even for him".
** Downplayed for Steve, who describes drinking from the wine glass as "weird, even for [Wayne], not that [he] had much room to talk", however, Steve is never seen acting goofy.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint:
** When Steve asks, "What are you doing here?!", Celestia replies, "Napping".
** Steve mentions that if this was a porn fanfic, he and Celestia might have made love as the sun rose, "but that would mean she'd have to multitask, so it was probably best that [they] didn't."
* CuddleBug: Celestia demands belly rubs.
* DrinkOrder: Steve and ''especially'' Celestia love strawberry fanta.
* ElmuhFuddSyndwome: Celestia speaks for her belly button, making it say, "No soft and gentle wubs for little ol' me?", which makes Steve criticize her for being childish.
* EyeScream: Discussed when Steve fears losing an eye from Celestia's horn.
* FlatWhat: When Steve first sees Celestia, he's not sure whether to rage, nerd out, or say, "What the hell?", so instead he just says, "Um..''what''?"
* {{Gasshole}}: Averted for Celestia during the day, but played straight for her at night. She farts an awful lot, which bothers Steve.
* {{Geek}}: Apparently, when Steve first meets Celestia, "some fan-boyish part of him wanted to squeal with glee". Steve also likes video games.
* TheGhost:
** Steve mentions a "Cindy" at one point, but she's never interacted with.
** Luna and Cadence are also mentioned but never seen.
** We never see Wayne either, although he plays a relatively large role.
* HoldYourHippogriffs: Steve mentions the "horns of a dilemma", then realizes that it's more like the "horn" of one as Celestia has only one horn.
* InsomniaEpisode: "Princess Celestia is Still in Your Bed" has Steve kept awake by Celestia farting, wing-slapping, and kicking.
* TheInternet: Steve mentions "fan sites" and putting photos on the Internet.
* TheInternetIsForPorn: Downplayed. Steve does mention pornographic fanfictions, but he doesn't act as if porn is the only thing on the Internet.
* InterspeciesRomance: Mentioned when Steve points out that humans sometimes ship ponies with humans, but nobody actually gets into a romantic relationship with any pony in the story.
* IResembleThatRemark:
** When Steve accuses Celestia of being insane, she says, "Would an insane pony do this?", then does the schoolyard trick of making her belly button talk.
--->'''Steve''': "That's ''exactly'' what an insane pony would do, actually."
** After making her belly button talk (and making it say "wubs" for "rubs"), Steve calls her childish. She retorts that she's a very adult Alicorn princess... then adds, "And besides, it was my tummy that used that word, not me."
* LargeHam: Downplayed for Steve. While he's not a flat-out drama king, he does sometimes exaggerate in his speech (he calls Celestia's farts "biological warfare" for instance).
* LazyBum:
** Even though she's not a slob, Celestia shows her lazy side when she takes naps and claims to be "too tired" to move the moon. She also eats breakfast in bed.
** Not usually, but Steve becomes lazy after removing his shoes in the evening and greatly dislikes the idea of leaving the house again.
* MediumAwareness: Steve writes "OC" on his soda bottle. However, he loses the awareness later when he describes this reality as not being a story.
* MindOverMatter: While she's not like the canon Celestia, this Celestia still has psychokinesis (can move things with her mind), which seems to be activated with her horn.
* MustHaveCaffiene: Implied when Steve describes having gone to work without his "morning coffee" as having sucked.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny:
** Celestia and Steve discuss the nudity taboo, which ponies lack.
** Steve either remembers or imagines his swimming trunks falling off.
* {{Narrator}}: The story is told from Steve's point of view.
* OfficialCouple: Steve dates a woman named Cindy.
* OnlySaneMan: Even though Steve apparently sees himself as weird, he often plays the straight card to Celestia and sometimes Wayne.
* OriginalCharacter: Steve, Wayne, and the mentioned Cindy (and Melissa, although she might be imaginary) have all been made up by the author. Steve even refers to himself as "OC" at one point.
* OutOfCharacter:
** Celestia not considering the wants of others, demanding "snuggles", and behaving like a little kid. If anything, she's acting more like a younger Discord than Celestia.
** Luna banishing Celestia out of sheer sibling rivalry.
** All the ponies from Equestria not minding being used for pillows.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Celestia is over a thousand, so Steve uses this against her to tell her not to be childish.
* ReversePsychology: In the first story, Celestia uses reverse psychology on Steve, telling him to pay no attention to her while ranting about being an immortal noble.
* RuleThirtyFour: InUniverse, Steve mentions that some stories involve humans sleeping with ponies.
* SayMyName: Steve shouts, "''Celestia''!" when she describes his bed as "very comfy".
* {{Shipping}}: InUniverse, he mentions that he's aware people ship humans with ponies.
* ShoutOut:
** Celestia says, "Resistance is futile, Steve". "Resistance is futile" was the CatchPhrase of a hive mind called the Borg in ''Franchise/StarTrek''.
** Celestia sings "Walking on Sunshine", which is an actual song.
* SiblingRivalry: Apparently, Luna banished Celestia because of a "little tiff" over the last pieces of rainbow cloud cake.
* StellarName: The princesses are named Celestia and Luna.
* ThereIsOnlyOneBed: Steve is unwilling to share with Wayne, so at first he shares with Celestia, then he sleeps on the couch.
* ThisIsReality: Steve says that his experience bed-sharing with Celestia is unlike "any story".
* ToiletHumour: Celestia farts in her sleep.
* WeirderThanUsual: Steve notes that drinking fanta from a wine glass is weird, "even for [Wayne]".
* WingedUnicorn: Celestia is still a winged unicorn, i.e. alicorn.
* WomanChild: Celestia acts like a kid, especially when she uses her belly button to ask for "tummy wubs" and when called out on it, says that it was not her but her tummy who said it.
