* TheCretaceousIsAlwaysDoomed: ''Continent of Blight'' (the t. rex rescue episode) involves the rescue team being present to rescue t. rex and several other Cretaceous Hell Creek fauna just in time for the infamous asteroid strike [[spoiler:, with Drew ending up temporarily marooned in the past ''after'' said asteroid strike]].

* CrazyEnoughToWork: Easily applicable to a large number of Jack's plans (at least the ones that work anyway).

* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:The resident mother ''Dimetrodon'' ends up succumbing to her injuries from fighting the challenger for her nesting site in ''The New Rulers'']].
** AdaptationInducedPlothole: [[spoiler: It's never elaborated on why the other female didn't take the opportunity once the resident mother died to just eat her rival's eggs before the team moves to save them]].

And these are just in the earliest missions.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Generally, injured animals do not heal instantaneously - Cirrus and Keehar both spend ''weeks'' in the veterinary station recovering from the injuries they sustained.
** After knocking the rescue team members into the ocean and breaking their boat, the tylosaurus focus more on the boat instead of the humans knocked into the water. Considering the boat was much larger (and the tylosaurus presumably thought said boat was a large turtle), it would be much more understandable for creatures of their massive size to focus their effort primarily on a similarly large target first instead of immediately focusing on comparatively smaller creatures that wouldn't be all that filling for them.
** Sharptooth is an incredibly powerful, ferocious predator... however, he's not invincible. By the end of "A Nightmare Labrynthine", due to his advanced age and having been in several fights in a few hours, he's worn out from exhaustion, alllowing the younger, fitter Zira to get the advantage in their fight.
** Sharptooth is a dangerous opponent not just because of his prodigious power... he's dangerous because of his intelligence and versatility in combat. He's able to adapt his fighting strategies for different opponents.
*** Conversely, the one time he faces an opponent he ''can't'' adapt his combat style to fight (Lightning), he's on the defensive for pretty much the entire confrontation.
** A lot of Phase Three revolves around Drew dealing with the PTSD he has sustained from being trapped in the Cretaceous; the very real thought of being permanently stranded in the past or dying in the K-T event severely taxed him mentally. It shows that the average, undisciplined civilian probably won't come out of a life-or-death situation completely unscathed.
** When the hostile t-rex summoned by the smuggling operation as a distraction encounters Martha the woolly mammoth, a mixture of Martha's size and having never seen anything remotely resembling Martha before results in the t-rex feeling uncertainty over what to do, allowing her to be successfully hit with a tranquilizer. And by the time the t-rex finally decides that she should perhaps try to fight and attack Martha, the tranquilizer drugs have already taken full effect, and she falls unconscious.

* CompressedAdaptation: For most of the Mesozoic missions, as they cover events that took place over a few months or years but, in this story, only take place over a few days at most.

* InSpiteOfANail: Ultimately, the team is unable to do anything to stop [[spoiler:the deaths of the baby cynodonts]]. This was probably for convenience, as [[spoiler:it would be rather difficult to get the cynodonts to leave the burrow while their babies were still inside, and even harder to remove them]].

* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The ship tease between Leon and Yolanda showcases this in droves.
